I called the dealer for a oil change and he told me for corvettes it is
around $70. Is this how much you guys pay? He said they need to put Mobil 1 Sentatic oil to keep the warranty. Any one recommend a good place in LA?
Sorry, can't recommend anywhere in LA. But, down here in OC, at Corvette Mike's in Anaheim, I pay $40. Not bad for the technically challenged like me who would never dare do it themselves. Besides, it gives me the opportunity to go to their showroom and look at all the cool mods I want. :D :D
GO DOWN TO THE LOCAL TARGET STORE AND BY FIVE QUARTS OF MOBIL ONE FOR $4.50 EACH AND THEN PICK UP A FRAM OIL FILTER AT PEP BOYS FOR $2.00 AND GO HOME AND GET UNDER THE CAR...THAT EASY.....$70 DOLLARS IS CRAZY........ :U

:iagree: Except you might want to get more than 5 quarts (more like 7). I paid $70 the first time too. Never again :nono: .
Get a floor jack... jack up the rear... do it yourself. Go down to the auto store and pick up 7 quarts of Mobil 1 5w-30 and an AC Delco filter and do it yourself. You'll spend 40 bucks and have the satisfaction of knowing it has the right amount of the right oil. :steering:

5 quarts?!?!?!?!?! Yeah if you want to run a quart and a half low. It takes 6.5 quarts exactly. Get seven and use the extra half quart to keep it at proper level until your next change

I would almost rather shovel poopie than change my own oil. I used to do it and I hated it. It cost me about $55 at the local oil change place.
Seven quarts of Mobil One 5W-30 fully synthetic oil ($25 at Wal-mart) and a Mobil One, Wix or AC Delco filter ($6-$10 anywhere) and change it yourself.
DO NOT use a Fram filter. Fram is the worst filter on the market. I have cut apart hundreds of oil filters and to say that Fram is a 'poor' filter is an understatement.
Mine don't cost me anything (for now). My local dealer gave me three free oil change coupons and they do a competent job of changing oil.
After that, given the quality of work they do (I watch them), I'll be happy to pay their $65 fee. My free time is worth more than the amount of time it would take to change my own oil, even though I don't mind doing the task.
