Re: ZO6 vs. Audi RS6.. (stano)
The RS6 is an awesome car, they have been timed from the high 12s to very lows 13s in the 1/4 mile and are very quick off the line. They are quite heavy though. A Z06 should easily take one at most any speed.
Ya, they get quick 0-60 and 1.4 mile times, but most AWD cars do. Still, for having 450HP and all that torque it should be pulling harder than it does.
I actually saw one on the freeway when I was in my Z06 near Santa Barbara. There was too much traffic to play though, and the driver didn't seem to want to play anyway.
That car is very incognito and stealthy - from a distance its hard to tell it from a regular A6, and even up close it isn't that much different looking. Sweet ride though.

The same could be said about M3's and 5's  None of those want to run him. :smash: Ric
RS6- 450HP Twin Turbo V8, AWD, and somewhat heavy. Both cars stock: Z06, both cars modified, RS6: for SCCA World Challenge results, see http://www.world-challenge.com/2003/standings-gt.html . The RS6 won last year, followed by an M3, then a Z06. Both Pobst and Auberlen are pro drivers (ringers), so that certainly helps (privateer McClure did an excellent job in the Z06).
Turbo cars are relatively easy to mod for more power. With AWD, they'll put down the power. See the 2004 SpeedTV SCCA WC series and watch the Z06's battle the RS6's on the track (new for this year: 500+ HP Cadillac CTS-V's, Andy Pilgrim (C5R) driving one of them: http://www.world-challenge.com/news/04press1.html ).
The 2004 season is going to be very competitive. Check it out
(Side note: the new V8 Audi S4 shifter and clutch are amazingly smooth and well-engineered: Best I've tried so far! I was blown away. Better than BMW, Porsche, Honda, etc. RS6 will be similar. Hopefully the clutch/shifter/transmission issues with the C5 Z06 will be remedied with the stated C6/C6-Z06 improvements. That said, the RS6 will be easier to shift/drive on the track than the current Z06; this can affect the outcome of a race).
Huh? Sorry you lost me there. The M3 and M5's are only rear wheel drive cars. And neither of them makes close to 450HP.

According to Audi, the RS6's are sold out for this year. Perhaps in the future they'll have an 'RS6-R' with the awesome 6-speed (one could also buy the 6-speed and have it installed ;) Or drop the TT into an S4 ).
Sorry I should have been more clear, What I was meaning to say is the heavy RS6 pulls harder than the M cars do, and unless the Z06 is well driven it gives them a fare race. Ric
You would think it would definitely pull harder, especially considering all that HP. Did you not see the link I posted early in this thread? It contains a video of a stock M3 pulling on a RS6 from a roll. 450HP vs 333HP should have a very different outcome, whether it's from a roll or from a stop. That's why I say the RS6 isn't al that impressive for 450HP.

EOD_M3, I see a lower value in video, and what I read on fourms, then what I have seen myself. M3's are nice cars, but they don't really compare well to RS6 or Z06, IMHO. It's all good, enjoy your car. Ric
You're absolutely right. The M3 doesn't compare to those cars well at all. It's the single best overall sports car you can buy for under 100k, as it does everything well, and lacks nothing. Unfortunately the RS6 or the Z06 (as much as I love it) can't really touch it in that regard. Enjoy your car as well.
