Do any of you guys have the K-40 system with the laser diffusers? I was looking at the ZO for the placement of 2 laser diffusers in the front but can't seem where I would mount them. I thought that I could get away with putting them in front of screens as they need a clear line of sight and putting them in back of them would not provide optimal performance. No such luch as they are 1-1/2" wide and being the car is lowered under the nose would also hinder the performance. Escort has a similar system but I would think the same would hold true for their diffuser as well too. I want a stealth system and I'm looking at any and all options.
I had a K40 on my last Suburban and liked it. No mounting issues there...but I really couldn't tell you how it would be on a vette. Where is the best place to purchase those now?
I just installed the Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter system in my Z06 and was also concerned about placing the deffusers behind the screens.
Did some research and found some guys that had mounted them there without any problems and say it works great.
Here's some pics. This is a very stealth-like install, you have to really know it's there to see it!
Front shifter module viewed from behind screen. I used one of the existing screen mounting bolts on the one side and an additional bolt on the oposite side for each of the front shifter modules.
Front shifter viewed from in front of the screen(This module is only visable because of camera flash and can't be seen otherwise)
Rear shifter module mounted above license plate
Interface module mounted in passenger side floor board below fuse panel
Display controller mounted to head liner with velcro above the rear view mirror (This can quickly be hid behind sunvisor if the need arises)
Spoke with a Tech. Rep @ K-40 today, he told me you can not place the diffusers behind the screens as they need a clear line of sight. I told him about the Escort and his comments were that they had the patton on what Escort is currenly using. They let the patton run out 8 years ago and have gone with their new technology diffusers. He said the best place is a diffuser under each brake air intake in the nose. You can pick up a K40 system with a single diffuser, front and rear radar for $700-$750 all over the internet. I've made my mind up that this is the system to go with. I will be installing the LED'S in the dash with a remote audible speaker. Two diffusers in the front and one in the rear for Laser. :smash:
 The K-40 is one of the best, if not the best system out there. Let us know how the installation goes. I would like to get this system on my car :yesnod:
