Hey guys I'm looking to buy a Z06 and I'm wondering how they hold up to every day mileage. Also I'm a new member to this board and I can't seem to find a photo gallery. Can anyone tell me where to look, I can look at z06 pictures every minute of the day. Thanks Guys
I certainly hope so, since mine "is" going to be a daily driver. I'm not rich enough to own another car for the daily commute (and who would want to??? This is when I get to drive my car the most!).
Do you mean as a daily driver or as your only car? I use my Z06 'regularly' to drive to and from work and for many errands, however I have an older Subaru for snow duty and for going to sections of town where I don't need the notoriety/high profile of a Corvette.
The car is great as a DD. The rockers do get chipped up as do the areas behind the wheels. If I had bought the car new I'd invest in some clear plasitic covering for the area. I'm actually about to buy a "beater" truck for DD duties. I'll still drive the vette on nice days, but I just don't enjoy driving it in the wet.
My '98 coupe was daily driven for about 5 years, and it handled it fine. I did not like driving in the snow, though.
When I upgraded to my Z, I figured out a way to get an old daily driver too. So now I have a '93 4x4 Explorer for snow or bad weather days and carrying large stuff.
As to photo's of Z06's... look at my sig. and there are a few more of mine on my web site.
I drive my 2002 daily and have no problems. I do have an older saturn for snow duty. I drive over 2000 miles a month to work and back. Love the high milage....lots of time in the car's. Love the Z06
I have been driving Corvettes (94 LT1 ) and now 2003 Z06 daily to and from work. They are great rides and have never had problems. I drive with my wife in her Expedition on severe weather days. You will incur normal road damage. Stay out from behind those dump trucks !! :nono:
I use mine as a daily driver. I've put almost 4,000 miles on it in the last four months. So far, no problems--knock on wood. However, I live in Southern California. Not much snow, ice, or rain here to worry about. The F1s might not do so well in the weather you get sometimes in Philly. Good luck and welcome.
Hey guys,
I appreciate all of the input and opinions you've all offered...The weather here in Philly is a problem sometimes, but I don't think it could ever be enough to stop me from buying a Z06, I'd rather just walk when it snows haha...From the sounds of it even the guys with high mileage have had no problems so far, which is something I was really curious about...Thanks to everyone and enjoy your rides, until I purchase mine I'm jealous of you all...

Re: Z06 as a Daily Driver? (Corvette Excellence)
Most of the guys using it as a daily ride are in warmer areas of the country like CA, AR, and TX. After you get stuck once or twice you will be looking for a better foul weather ride. There is nothing worse looking than a C5 covered from head to toe in white road salt.

:iagree: I originally considered using my Z as a daily driver, but now that my first winter with it is here, I am VERY glad that I did not. It's not just the snow either. I discovered last week that cold F1's are no fun at all. I had it out during the day with temps in the low 20's (perfectly dry) and was still breaking traction in the 3rd gear (rear end actually kicked out rather violently - thank you AH!). Obviously, you can drive safely in the cold by going light on the trottle, but what fun is that? To me, that's just like a big tease
Sorry for the rant, I just miss driving my car the way it's meant to be driven every day! That's why I've pretty much resigned myself to leaving it in the garage until warmer days arrive ...
I've used mine as a daily driver since new and love it. With my family about to grow in number there are pressures in regards to a back seat, but thats what my wife's suburban is for. :D
:iagree: It was my DD in Florida. Since I moved back to the Midwest I knew that wouldn't be a wise option. I picked up a used Grand Cherokee Ltd for cold, rainy, or snowy days. It also ensures that the Z06 stays clean, which is cool.
I've had 4 vettes as daily drivers. My '01 Z is a DD with 37K on it an no real issues. It's not a good bad weather car but i live in So Cal so I don't have to deal with that. :D
I drove a 1977 Corvette everyday for 10 years.
When I got my 2004 Z06, I thoght about getting a work car, but could not imagine leaving the Z06 just sitting in the garage all day.
