Cracked Windshield
Well, I was driving too close to an Oldsmobile Bravada last night when he threw up a rock and put a dime-sized peck into my line of sight in my windshield.
I've called my insurance and a replacement windshield is being ordered from the dealer. It will arrive in about five days. What things do I need to know before the glass guys start the replacement to ensure all goes well?
It all depends - GM charges like $1500 for a windshield. But you can get an aftermarket one installed for $200.
On issues of HUD - there is not much difference in HUD vs. non-HUD glass.

I think that's a good point. There was a post about that within the last 3-4 months. Somebody reported that they went out and installed a "non-HUD" windshield and it worked just fine. It wouldn't surprise me if the "HUD" windshield is just another way of getting more money out of you. But that's just my pure speculation. In any event, good luck.

Re: Cracked Windshield (z-u-later)
The deductible is all the same, the GM windshield is being ordered but I think I read somewhere that the Z06 windshield is thinner. (?) Is this true and where does it say HUD on the glass?
Always replace with factory original pieces. When you go to sell and something like a windshield does not match, it throws a red flag up. The buyer gets very pickey! He thinks accident!! :steering:

:iagree: ...and HUD is silkscreened into the glass not a decal
I was told that the ZO6 windshield is very much different from a regular coupe. For one, I was told that the ZO6 windshield is actually thinner than that of a regular coupe. Make sure you have the right part. :D
