Re: LS Edit vs Predator Programmer, what exactly do I need these for? how it do it? (TZL)
Talk to James, RWTD ... I got a predator from him and infact it came today. James does custom tunes free via email. Either way you need someone that can use either tool, I like the idea of the predator since I can make changes and it doesn't cost to pay an LS1 tuner, the cost of the predator is less than 1 dyno tune.
For forced induction you might lean toward LS1 edit for tuning, but once again find a tuner that knows how to use it.

Personally I would not use mail order tuning on any car, period. If your car is mostly stock and you want to change fan temps, redline settings, turn off CAGS etc. mail order is fine. LS1Edit also plugs into the OBD port, neither require splicing. LS1Edit allows real time real world tuning of the fuel tables as well as timing and other parameters that effect performance. When it comes to tuning, IMO, one size does not fit all. Wideband tuning on a dyno is best, but my tuner also takes the car out on the road to make sure that the real world conditions match up with the dyno - the best of both worlds.
Also take in consideration that this is a public forum and some people here shoot from the hip and have nothing to back up their claims, and you get a she said he said factor to contend with.
I would not purchase any unit that can not be custom tuned.

The Hypertech has some "custom tune" capability like the Predator, though the Predator is more capable. Same answer on both, they are still mail order tuning.
