Default '02 Test Drive, almost bought

First off BIG THUMBS UP :hurray: to MaryAnn at Ramp Chevy for actually treating me well instead of the normal dealership BS.

Secondly, that car was a wet dream come true. Much MUCH faster then any other stock car I've driven, and it feals really good. Power came on instantly and I was still trying to figure out the best way to put the car in 1st without killing it or making the tire boil over (not the best road conditions with all the sand and ice and salt up here in NY). On the highyway I put it in 3rd coming out of a smoth merge at like 2500 and just pressed the gas. I let off around 80 cause MaryAnn didn't want me getting her a ticket... shucks. But it got there effortlessly and without any drama. The clutch had a small amount of noise and there was minimal vibration in the shifter.

The suspension was sporty but nothing butt harsh as I was expecting. I felt the bumps as my as I do in my DD Sunfire. Steering was a bit disconnected but turning inhibits zero body role.

Fit and finish were ok. Nothing special, but nothing especially bad.

In all, I would buy it. But the dealership after tax/title/liscence/etc wants what most people on the board paid for a 2004. I guess I'll just wait till another place gets one and I'll pick it up.

I don't want an 04, I want a used 02 for 35K or less after everything.

You should be able to do that from a private seller. I paid 36k for an 02 Z with 4500 miles on it.

I agree with you on just about everything you said about the car... the steering feels lighter (yet tighter) compared to my C4, 3rd gear pulls hard, but since I have a hurst billet shifter I notice the shifter vibrations in 3rd gear a lot more compared to stock.

Sunnuvabitch won't hook up at all in first or second gear if the pavement is too cold. :D
