You will love the jack. Its so smooth and easy to use...my 6 yr old son jacked the car up for me...with close supervision of course...he got the entire oil change lesson...never too early to get the youngsters on the right track with car care. To lower the jack you pull back on the handle about a half inch and twist to the left. Very slick.
Hi - one thing I didn't see mentioned here - fill the new filter with Mobil-1 before installing it. That way, when it starts, you're not decreasing initial oil distribution while the filter fills up. Just a little thing to make your motor last longer. Also, use a bit of new oil on the o-ring gasket of the filter befrore installing it. Otherwise, it will most likely stick on when you try to remove it for your next oil change. As mentioned, changing to a magnetic drain plug is another tiny bit of insurance, and it drains much better if warmed up thoroughly. :flag
Yes, do it yourself.
It actually will take you less time to do it yourself than to take it to a dealer.
The only pain is disposing of the oil.
Usually you can drop it off at a local auto parts store that does repairs.
All the books I have highly recommend NOT jacking the car by the suspension. Take hockey pucks and use them to jack the sides of the car up to put jack stands under the rear jack points after you got the front up. There's a link on this sight that explains how to make jackstand supports out of 2x6's. Don't jack the car without the pucks or by the suspension.
