I have almost 1,000 miles on my Z and its getting warmer so I'm about ready to visit the track. What times should I expect, I have no mods....yet.
Also, how hard are they to launch, I used to run my GN but its a little easier to get off the line with turbo lag and an auto. I hope to eventually get the Z faster than the GN (mid 11's). Also with only a grand at my disposal any mod recommendations would be appreciated too....
I only try drag racing once a year at our corvette club sponsored event in Sacramento, and my only previous experience racing was with our 72 Lt1. (so basically a beginner)
At the race in 02, my best time was 12.87. Last year did not fare so well- a 13 something :( (but everyone else was slow too due to the track condition so i guess i dont feel too bad)
Depends a lot on altitude too. I went last fall in Calgary, about 3500' with just heades on my car. Track was greasy so 60' times were about 2.5 seconds...way off what they should be. Anyways I was 12.998-13.1.
With some practice, you should be able to get under 12.5 (I'm almost there :smash: ). As stated above, track prep and altitude make a big difference. Learn how to launch it (I'm still figuring that one out) and shift as close to redline as possible. Intake is probably the best performance mod for under a grand.
Many people do not cinsider slicks mods....
Cool, you close to Englishtown? Race there alot?
Maybe you can help me hook up my car. I'm new to Vettes, may need some help.

In my book stock means the way the car rolls out of Bowling Green. I agree that others bend the rules a bit.
I am part of the -->East Coast Corvette Challenge<-- series so you can find me in car # 6291 at ETown during the events. Check the web page for the dates.
Someone told me that for every tenth you pick up in 60' times, you get two or three tenths in ET - sounds good to me - I would love to get to 1.9 like rbartick.

That really depends on how you got that 2.2 60'. If your 2.2 60' is a result of massive wheelspin then hooking better and dropping a tenth in the 60' will probably drop your ET by 1.5 to maybe 2 tenths.
On the other hand, if your 2.2 60' is a result of a hook and bog situation then dropping a tenth in the 60' is probably not going to give back 2 tenths at the big end.
There really is no set rule that relates the 60' to the 1/4 mile ET. Your 1st to 2nd shift is also a critical part of a good ET.
The key for you is seat time. Also when your at the track go and chat with people to pick up tips. Ill be around etown and atco this year and would be glad to help you in any way.

Thanks, I don't live to far from either track so I'm hoping to get there fairly often, we'll have to keep in touch so I know how to find you...

Re: Z06 1/4 Times???? (pk2401)
Damn good ET rbartick. Another mod and you'll need a roll bar.
Thanks. My current setup will run 11s this season as is. It just depends on the weather and how hard I want to push it. If CYA-Vett lets me make a pass in his stock car I should be able to get at least a 12.4 (probably better) out of it on a cool day as long as he does not mind me abusing it a bit ;)
