4. Allow the construction of legal drag strip facilities. (Hard to do in the lands of continuous litigation for the retarded).
The last time I got a ticket (70 in a 55), the officer told me to keep the speed down and take it to a track if I wanted to drive fast. I had already signed the ticket when he said this, so I decided to get my money's worth and said "where? where's the nearest track?". He just gave me a blank look and walked away...

Kinda' funny because some folks in our city (Tallahassee, FL) have tried to open a "legal" dragstrip way out on the southwest part of town... but the city council got involved and "denied" any possible work because they were afraid it would attract "drugs and unruly people". C'mon, give me a break... it's just like skateboarding, you want to get the kids off the street, then give them someplace to go. They did just that with some nice skateparks in town and alot of the kids go there... so, hopefully they will realize a strip will help eliminate some of the streetracing. I hope that someday they will figure that out...

It is political. There is no reason to give someone a ticket for chirping the
tires on a car.It looks good for the politicians when they are running for
re-election.

i am not too worried, there are lots of rules in the book, and as always it is up the judgement of the officer and your attitude.

i recently was on my home after working late at 6:00 am (wife was sick and home with our newborn who didn't sleep throught the night at that time). so i was hurrying on the way home in (don't laugh) the wife's minivan which has no radar detector being it is her company car. i was doing 80 in richardson (a suburb in dallas known for writing lots of tickets). and came over the top of a hill and some him sitting in a parking lot off the highway. so i slowed down and sure enough he started up and enter the highway to pull me over. i pulled over to the left since there was a wide shoulder so he didn't have to walk in traffic (trick i learned from traffic school). the officer came up to the window asked for license & registration. also asked why i was speeding explained my wife was at home a baby and my wife sick. he then asked where i was coming from, what did etc., and then asked if i knew how fast i was going. i thought i knew he busted me so i said 80, he looked back at me and said "it is refreshing to meet someone who is honest". he then responded have a nice night and asked to wait for him to turn his lights off before leaving. so it pays to be honest now and then when it comes to the police. as i got busted and deserved a ticket but didn't get one. several new laws were passed in texas last september and always remember it is up to the discretion of that officer of what he wants to enforce. the front license plate issue is an obvious one, how many of us don't run with one.

This stinks. I do not street race, but I could get a ticket for this every time I take one of my Vettes out for a drive.

I've only gotten this ticket once in my life, and it was well over a year ago in my '69. At the time the car was just loud and not too fast (340rwhp). I was accelerating hard as I left a toll booth, but I waited til I was in 2nd til i stood on it. About 5 miles later (I was then doing 70), I get pulled over by DPS and issued an exhibition of accel. ticket. The car was so loud it got his attention. He did not hit me with radar or anything. In essence, he was correct in citing me, but I was minding my own business and not causing a problem and was over the speed limit just briefly. I was not running at a sustained speed over the speed limit for any amount of time (which is more dangerous than exhibition of acceleration any day).

I am _always_ polite to the ossifers. But I'm sorry... I do not buy that "they are just doing their job". Ever notice how many wrecks involve Vettes? Very, very few. But yet, we are picked on constantly. These guys need to get over it and go stop the REAL crime. Better yet, bring back a real driver's test in this state and give all these donut eaters something to do ... as in administer the test!

If they impound my car and there's a scratch on it when I go to get it (which we all know there will be many scratches, rips, things stolen out of it, etc) I have a good attorney that will eat their lunch.

I have no problem paying for speeding tickets (I have a clean record, BTW and ZERO accidents in 20 years of driving... not so much as a fender bender), but throwing a guy in the back of a squad car and taking his car is plain old bull.

Lots of Z06s in Allen that I've seen. We should start our own club. :)

Thanks japon.

I guess everything is for sale at the right price, but no, I'm not planning on selling it. It's an original L71 427/435 car. When I bought it ~18 months ago the owner had put in a fresh 454 HO. It was ok, and very docile and ran on pump gas, but wasn't fast enough for me. So I installed some AFR heads, an Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake, Hooker sidetube headers, and a little bit larger hyd. roller cam. Still, the cam is smaller than most of the aftermarket C5 cams. 230/230, .578/.578 lift.

Made 434rwhp/450rwtq (peak HP at only 5600rpm...but it only drops off 20rwhp at 6400...so its a very flat curve) untuned. Idles at 800rpm, drives like grandma's car til you stand on it. :)
