Does anyone else have the problem of the trunk lid not fully popping ?
In the beginning it would fully pop, and be easy to grab and lift, now it only partially raises and I need to stick my finger in a rear corner to grab it, or wait another 10-15 seconds, then it finally raises like in the beginning.
My 2002 Z always did what your saying bearly enough room to get a finger tip in. I use to pop the hatch and then get out and shut the drivers door and this made the hatch open further. I really think its an adjustment
because my 2004 Z hatch pops open really nice.. about 2 inches everytime, it was the first thing i noticed transfering my stuff from the 02 to the new 04.
I thought WOW thats how its supose to work.. very nice with the two inch gap when poped.
My buddy with a vert solved the problem by installing some small (I'd guess about 1 1/2 long) springs at the base of the supports. They get compressed when you close the lid but hit the release and it POPS right up. I'll see if he can post some pictures for you guys.

Here's a photo and description of the fix my friend came up with - it works great.

Got the springs at Home Depot. They've got about a 3/8 in inner diameter, a wire diameter of about 1/16 in, and are about 1 1/4 in long. They come two in a bag for a couple of bucks.
Installation is a matter of pressing the spring over the strut's shaft and then winding the spring around the shaft. It's not necessary to disassemble the strut or remove the end of the strut or even unfasten the strut from the trunk lid or body. Just work the spring around the shaft.
Also found that a liberal dose of WD-40 on all the hinge points makes a big difference, too.
