Okay it is time for tires and really not enthused about staying with Supercar tires. Looking at 275/40YR17s and 295/35YR18s Kumho Ecta-MX. If you have experience with these, please share it.
I have those exact tires on my car now. Personally, I like the looks of the 265 on the front better. The 275's are a bit taller and make the car look somwhat awkward to the trained eye. The 295's are a pretty good tire. Not quite as sticky as the F1's but close enough for the average driver. And my 295 have already outlasted my original F1's. When these are gone I will be looking for something a with a little more grip for my next set. But, the Kunho's are great for the average driver and they are good in the rain as well. You can't beat the price either. They are #1 in my book in regards to bang for the buck.
Great tire for the money. I think they look better than the F1 to start. They seem very close to the F1's in the turns. They are not as good for straight line. That could also be new with a lot of tread vs old with no tread. The 275 looks a tad tall compared to the 265, but livable and better rim protection. What else, rain no comparison. If you drive in wet get theses. I guess that's it. I recommend them all way. You just can't beat the price.
Re: Your Experience with Kumho Ecsta-MX? (MikeNMaxZO6)
aside from drag radials and et streets, has anyone thied these tires on the drag strip?
Yes...went to Atco last december for a track rental. Had a 1.79 60' and 12.48 1/4 with 24 lbs. in the rears. 1st and 2nd were sweet. But soon as I hit 3rd...immediate wheel hop and I let off alittle so as not to damage anything. I'm sticking with DR's from now on for the track.
I have had the Kuhmo MX's since the middle of last year and really recommend them to all my friends. IMHO, they perform very well, especially in the rain compare to the stock F1's. I went drag racing last weekend with the MX's and pulled a 1.866' on 32 psi running a 11.983@117.09 mph with just bolt-on's. :hurray: I also use the same tire for auto-xing and road racing. I have run 1:45 with these tires at Road Atlanta. I plan on getting them again.
