Default Extra Oil at the Track

The Owners Manual says to add an extra quart of oil at the track and then to remove it when finished autocross/track driving. What's the best way to remove the oil? Is it possible to take a quart from the oilpan without draining too much?

Remove the oil filter and that will get you at least 1/2 quart out. It will be kind of messy. Thought I had read in the past that GM said it was ok to leave whatever was over the full line in.

You may want to ask in the autocross/roadrace section. Those guys seem to know their stuff.

Just leave it in until the next change. Some run 8 quarts all the time.

The pan on the LS6 is huge. No problem.

The dip stick tube is tapered, so don't try to suck it out. I know. I tried for a whole weekend last year after my firest DE event.

I agree. I always left the oil in my 97 and now do the same with the Z.
