This page is from their website. IMOLA has featured full page advertisements in Corvette Quarterly which I received since purchase of my '03 Z06. My local tire dealer has given me a quote but I've never seen any reference to them on any of the bulletin boards. Thanks.
I had a quote last fall from my dealer for wheels/tires combo using Michelin Pilot Sports. I'm looking for a clean design fully chromed aluminum wheel without all of the fake bolt heads, crevices, nooks and crannies that it seem most after-maket wheels have today. I really don't recall the quote from last fall but I've asked for an update and I'll post it if anyone wants to know. I put the car in storage last November and will probably get it out shortly, hence the renewed interest. I was hoping to see some reference to these wheels over the winter but no luck. I'd like to have a set of long lived drivers that run quiet, smooth, don't pickup/sling so much loose sand/pebbles from the road surface. I'll probably just let the stocker set idle.
hey squeaky
if you find some tires that will run quietly for longer than 3000 miles on your vette and still have some performance value, please let us all know! :smash:
I hope you mean 30K rather than 3K miles. I purchased this car in Sept '02 and still have less than 1K miles on it. Therefore, tires should last me awhile ( it's just a driver for me.....not a racer). Of course, in my climate I lose about 6 out of 12 of the annual driving months. I'll let you know what I purchase and my experience.
here's my experience so far...
'03 automatic coupe with goodyear runflats--about 4k, maybe 5k miles before they were obnoxiously noisy in the cab
'03 z06 with goodyear f1 supercar tires 3500 miles and the were starting to get louder, now bfg g force drag radials with about 500 miles and not much hope for longevity (did not buy these tires for long life)
Interesting comment about obnoxious noise levels with the run-flats even with the coupe and its extra sound-deadening (compared to the weight saving Z06). My Z06 with the F-1's makes some tire noise (but not objectionable for me). Perhaps a partition would address what little concern I have? I've had good luck with Michelin longevity on numerous cars in the past and they are smooth/quiet. I currently have a set of 20" Michelin Diamaris on an '02 Bravada SUV which is my daily driver. These are exceptionally smooth, true and quiet. They're OEM for BMW X-5's. Not sure how the Pilot Sports will sound compared to them.
If anyone's interested, I ordered a set of the IMOLA Design 22 wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport AS in 245-35R19 and 285-30R20 early last week. The package was $4076.14 plus tax. Winter is over and it's time to get the summer ride out of storage. Just got done 'summerizing' my snowmobile and fired up the riding mower.
