Just put a partian in from Ecklers and it helped a ton. While cruising before on the iner-state, it was fun for a while but then I could not talk to my girl friend in a normal voice. We cruised to the triangle yesterday and it made a huge diferance. The one I got is foam and very thick and stiff and it looks great from the front and gives you a real trunk. My .02$ worth.

Lee: In addition to getting a partition, you can also install a sound-deadening material like L-Comp under the carpet. I understand that a material like that will cut the road noise from the wheels quite a bit. Just do a google search on that term and you'll probably be able to find a supplier/installer near you. I understand that it's not that expensive or difficult to have installed. But, just let me add this. When I first got my Z, the cabin noise drove me nuts just because I wasn't use to it. I researched all kinds of things to reduce the noise. But, over time, the noise grew on me to such a great extent that now I'm pricing Borla Stingers because the noise isn't loud enough!! So, I don't know where you are in terms of owning your Z, but if you are relatively new, I would suggest that you try to sit with it for a while just to see whether your opinion changes. Just my $.02 that might save you some $$$ in the long run. Good luck.
This is my first Coverette, Baught it new in 02. Don’t get me wrong I love the way the Z sounds, It's just the stray noise inside. Going to look into the sound-deadening material from L-Comp.

I wasn't sure that I wanted a partition so I purchased the $99 one from Ecklers. It's decent quality and actually looks quite nice from inside the car. Since it's foam, it compresses to make a fairly air-tight fit. I was quite surprised at how much tire noise it did supress. I've read contrary information on another forum but my girlfriend and I were both surprised at how well this thing reduced road noise. It's definitely a mod I want to keep. Maybe I'll upgrade to a higher quality partition in the future. Although, I tend to think that foam would supress noise better than solid wood.
The resonance inside the car was a bit much for me too. I used Dynamat Xtreme (trans tunnel, under all carpet, inside doors) to lower the noise from about 80-81 db's at 70mph cruise to about 75db's. The partition reduced the noise to about 71-72db's.
Makes a huge difference. Car feels like a much higher quality automobile. I don't need to adjust the volume of the stereo from parked to highway cruise.
sliderhss,
is there a place where i can find a template for the dimensions for the partition? does the positioning of the partition make the cargo net unuseable? my first corvette so the locations are not familiar to me
Stripped all interior out including seats, center console, all carpet, and door panels, and installed Dynomat Extreme.
Bought one of Andy's Partitions.
Replaced stock tires with Michelin Pilot Sports.
Made a huge difference in interior road noise!
Could you give us an idea of what it costs to install that much Dynamat Extreme material ?
It took almost 3 bulk packs of Dynomat Extreme to do it all.
Shopped around on the net and found it for $130 per bulk pack shipped.
I purchased it from http://www.thezeb.com Looks like there's been a price increase since then.
