This has probably been asked before more than once, but what the heck. I've had my Z06 about a month now, and I figured after 1200 miles the shifting would start to smooth out some, but it is really notchy in almost every gear. Not like a grinding but just kinda rough and sometimes pretty resistant. Other times less resistance and it plops into gear. Is it unusual to have this kind of varying pressure? 1st to 2nd seems to be the worst. The longer I drive it the better it seems to get, is everything just still factory tight?
Mine is still crapy... ah I mean notchy. I went to the track last year and after like 5 passes it was really bad, I need to switch to synthetic Transfluild. I have 5k FYI..

Re: Notchy shifting (PDCjonny)
Mine loosened up at 3,000 miles but it still is notchy in the morning when it is cooler outside. I just take it easy until all fluids have warmed up. :steering:
I have the same problem, I think it's the nature of a tranny made to take the power we put on it. I switched to Amsoil syn ATF and it helped a bunch, but the tranny is still scchitzo in that some days it's notchy and some days it's like butter. Oh well I live with it and just shift away. BTW I have 31,XXX miles on my car.
It sounds pretty normal. Mine was stiff for the first 1000 or so miles, I have about 7000 now and it's starting to feel sweet. Talk to it :flag  :flag
Funny. I was just noticing this morning that my Z is loosening up nicely after only 380 miles. From the posts above, I guess this process will continue for a few months. :hurray:
Yup, same problems that you all are having. On the cold mornings, I can't find reverse.....I sometimes need to put it in 3rd, then 4th, then go into reverse. I think i wil try the Amsoil too!
