I've experienced some alignment shifting in the last couple months after auto-xing. My alignment settings are aggressive, but they seemed to work fine .... then one or two events later, I change tires and the car pulls to the left. Is this the dreaded control arm bushing slip that I've heard about?
And for my information, what should I be looking for when inspecting for this problem?
When the bushings slip you will see the lower contol arms push back until they start rubbing against the cross member. This rubbing action will gall both the control arm and the cross member. If it is sufficiently roughed up something will have to be inserted between the cross member and a new control arm or new bushing to keep the cross member from tearing up the new part. The poly bushings I had installed on my 97 had large washers to protect the sides of the bushings.
