Ok, I installed my hurst shifter a few weeks back and put it back in with the stock ****. It rattled, so I bought the MGW **** and also installed the PVC mod too. Rattle is now gone. The problem is that when I tried the second time, I snapped of the top of the demon key. I could not grip it with vice grips.
Here are some pictures of the mess. I had to drill to get out the key. As you can see I drilled then screwed a screw into the hole. I used the vice grips to"hit" it up. Key came right out.Actually only took 5 minutes to do.
Guess it's aptly named huh?
I have the stock shifter in place but it drove me crazy to think that the **** was slanted to the left. I believe that was actually an incorrect perception but in the driver's seat it appeared to be canted. I took out the key and screwed it down one turn to where it 'felt' correct and it fits very snugly, doesn't move and appears perfectly straight. :steering:
I've seen that Demon Key movie before  Those pictures look EXACTLY like what I had to go through (I may have had a bit more metal shavings laying around from the drilling). I still have nightmares from it over a year later. :leaving:
J-Rod:
I'm amazed that you got a sheetrock screw to go into that thing and not snap off.
