Car is going in to WCC on Monday to fix the ride and I am doing the gears. I cant decide on 3:90's or 4:10's. The car is street driven and will have the big azz T-REX cam, LGM long tubes, Mezierre water pump, ported throttle body, etc. I'm laying down 385 RWHP now with 2 bolt ons and I'm confident I will get close to 450 RWHP with this set up. I dont know what gears to get. I spin em hard now in 2nd. As soon as the conti sports 2's where out I hope there will be a stickier tire available in the 20". What do you guys think? I've had 7 corvettes and never put gears in any of them.
I am no expert, I had 4.11 in my LT4 and loved them, but IMHO 4.11 would to much gear for the amount of power you have or will have, so I'm not sure your power would not be to much for the gear.
My Lt4 spun like crazy with about 300 rwhp, and I had 335 rears.
If you are looking at the 1/4 mile 3.73 or 3.9 might acutally be faster with your power, I don't know at what speed the sift to 5th would be....
Again I am no expert I'm sure someone who can do all the math can answer better
I'm not speaking from experience but I would think that with your projected 450 rwhp, the 4.10's would just spin like crazy all the way possibly through 3rd. Hopefully someone with this set up can be more useful to you.
Hows the ride on your car? Mines going back in Monday to hopefully get it fixed once and for all. What are your measurements in front now?
So far so Good! Firm, but I like the road feel.
Took it up to 24.5" . The Side splitters hang down lower towards the front, so I really can't go any lower. :D
I've had 3 LT4S, still love that car. :yesnod:
 Great car, had trouble psrting with her :cry
This may just add qustions but is yours a ZO6 and what year. I am preety sure they changed the gearing in the transmission at some point, which might mean all Zo6 with 4.11 's may not have the same gearing.
With my LT4 I wanted to do the 1/4 still in 4th gear, and it did, but it was not near as powerful as the Z.
If Lager99 has them hes the best opinion, he has tons of power :yesnod:
Its one sweet set up. That would be the test drive to have
:smash:
Traction is tough on a bolton car, the more power you add - the worse it gets. The tires on your car probably have a smaller sidewall than anything else you can put on a C5, thus making traction even tougher. The steeper of a gear you go, traction becomes more difficult. If you ever floor your car below 40 mph I'd look at the 3.73s, 3.90s at the highest. JMO.
I think eventually I'll have to do a tub. I love the 20's with the small sidewall. I thiong I could do a 20x12.5 with a 345/25/20 pirelli. Dizam this is an expensice habit.

:iagree: 4.10's are really steep for the power you plan to put out.....I put them on my f-body, going from 3.42 to 4.10....you really have to get out of 1st quickly.....can't imagine what it would be like in a Z
Actually... the way it's setup the stock Z06 mn12 w/ 3.42 rear is equivalent to putting 3.90's in an mn6. 4.10's in the mn12 is something like a 4.56 rear in an mn6.
If I had a mn6 I'd go w/ 4.10's in a heartbeat (had them in my cobra), but with the Z06 and all that'd power you'd just be spinning the tires all the time. It might be nice to have 3.73's like the CTS-V comes with, but the difference wouldn't be worth the expense.

Cobra said much better than I. I asked the same qusetion to a tuner and was told 3.73 would be what he would consider, but remember everyone has different tastes. WOW i can't believe the CTS comes with the 3.73's thats very
Myself I really was considering the rear gear because how much I liked it in the LT4, But 1st and second with the power of a ZO6 give me more of the exceleration feeling I like before having to shift. I like being able to HIT IT and not have to shift so fast.
I guess my vote would be 3.73, but 4.11 would work too just depends on what you want to driving experience top be, You know deciding is half the fun. I agonize over the small stuff, I guess I see all sides and agree with each view
