What makes you think brake pads that "dust" are "cheap"? They dust because of different braking characteristics. You should research what these are and if you own a ZO6 you REALLY need to know.
Brake dust isn't an issue with me. I keep my car clean and it makes it real easy to know when my wheels are clean. Clean is clean, regardless of the type of brake pads.
The reason I able to see this so called brake dust is that I have a Z16 with the new polished wheels and it really shows up on these wheels. I don't remember my 98 coupe dusting that bad on my chrome wagon wheels. I don't brake the car hard at all. Maybe I'm going through a breakin period, but I just went through a 75 mile mountain run last weekend. I only have 933 miles on the car so far.
The brake dust is just part of owning a Z if you stick with the stock pads.
If you want to eliminate 90% of it, go with a set of ceramic pads.
I put the Wilwood Ceramic pads on mine and don't have anywhere near as much dusting as before. Also the small amount of dust that does accumilate is lighter in color and not as noticable.
I really haven't notice that much difference in stopping power either.
A great investment that keeps your wheels looking cleaner, longer.

That's because the coupe/vert don't have the brakes the Z06's have. The Z06's brakes are far superior in stopping power. As others have said brake dust is part of owning a Z, just wipe them down after every drive.
The dust is from your high performance brake pads. I brought this question up before, and the option to have less dust was to get ceramic pads, but have less stopping power. I've since opted for more stopping power and can live with the dust
Thanks to all for responces to my brake dust issue. I thought all vette's came from factory with ceramic brake pads. I didn't knew that there's performance lose when using ceramic's via mormal pads. You are all right when you mention just wipe then down everytime before I go out for a cruise. Thats's something simple that I can learn to live with. This is my first Z. Now I know the diffrence.
Mike,
No offense, but it sounds as though waxing & cruising are more your thing than competing/driving in an aggressive manner--nothing wrong w/ that, to each his own...
Your best bet is to replace your stock pads w/ ceramics--you'll be much happier ;)
I just can justfy owning my car for one week and look forward to trashing it before I make the first payment. Ive been on roan Atlanta with a friend in his 02 EB zo6. It was way cool, but this my first new vette, it's an 04 Z16. Last thing I want to do is wreck it. This is also my first six speed. Need to get somemore seat time to get used to the traney gearing and learn what my personal skills are before I get in over my head. I tried in the mountains and the systems kicked in ( active hndl and Traction control). I was pushing it way to hard and the systems let me know that I wasn't as good as should be.
