I am on a serious search now as I am about 4 weeks away from realizing the Z06 dream. Question: I thought the "born on date" was posted on the door label and was the month/day of manufacture. I drove an '04 last weekend from a dealership with 47 miles on the odo. I checked the door label and it read "09/30", so I assume September of 03 manufacture date? Both the Corvette sales manager and sales rep. told me they had just gotten the car from Bowling Green a week ago.....is my leg getting pulled?
sorry 'bout that. Yes, it read "09/03", so that would be September of '03, yet they said it had just rolled off the line. I think I know where I'm NOT buying a Z.
Not that there's anything wrong with an '04 that's been there awhile, just an indication of the level of honesty I can expect if I move forward with that dealer..

Re: Born on Date question (jnjboc)
yet they said it had just rolled off the line.
It rolled off the line in Sept of 2003. This car may have sat outside under snow during the winter months. Look at the hood on an angle under shop light and check for fine scratches from snow removal.
The driver side door sticker should list the month & year. I got my 2002 in early March of 2002 and my door sticker says Feb 2002.
Hmm, your car must be very close in build date to mine. I was able to track through the dealer's ordering system that my car was built on Feb. 20, 2002, and I took delivery of the car on March 17, 2002. :) :chevy
If you have any questions about it, get a hold of the VIN. Ask sponge if he can run the number for you. You can't miss the thread, it's in C5 General that is like something 17 pages long.
