[Z06] Borla Stinger Exhaust
Bake
Wife and I travel all around - we can talk just fine in normal tones. There is popping on decel - sounds sweet to me. (By the way we are both in our late 50's)....
The Borlas are flat out perfect for me. Deep throaty sound - WOT is awesome. No rattles - everything tight....
Can't go wrong here....
- Louder when cruising on highway, about the same at WOT
- Deeper sounding - more of a muscle car tone than exotic V-8 like the Indy's
- Have some resonance issues at certain RPM's - Indy's have none - whether you can live with that resonance is up to you.
I've been going back and forth between the two exhausts for months now. I've listened to both on other forum member's cars, and ridden in both. It was a tough choice because they're both so damned nice, but I decided on the Corsa Indy's. I just love that exotic V-8 sound, they're loud when you get on it, yet they're quiet when cruising with no resonance. I like to take long trips sometimes with my Z06, and I think the resonance would get annoying after a few hours. To me, this is the best of both worlds.
I'm picking up my Corsa Indy's in 2 days, and putting them on this weekend at a mod day, along with an X-pipe. I'm also getting LT headers, so I can't wait to hear it with all my mods!

The ONLY reason I'm going with an X-pipe is to get rid of a bad case of jingles that my car has that drives me
I'm hoping it doesn't quiet the exhaust too much, but I think I'd rather have that than the stupid jingle bells sound. I know headers makes the exhaust louder, so hopefully they will offset any quieting done by the X-pipe, and if my theory is right will result in a smoother, more polished, yet loud sound that I'll be happy with.

The loud drone is awesome. It consumes you with the engine. It's hot as hell in Memphis these days but I've got the windows down listening to the evil howl of the twin tip Stingers.
I have Corsa Indys and I just had the X-pipe put on then removed a few days later. I agree with Bake 1, the Corsa Indys have a really mean sound when going through the gears and that great robust sound was almost gone after putting on the X-pipe. Yes it got rid of that darn motor boat sound and reduced the popping a little bit, but when you went through the gears the engine got even quieter, very weird. Now that I have them off I am very very happy and I have gotten used to the motor boat sound at idle.
To each their own, I just really love the aggressive sound.

The 99 was civil when I wanted it to be and down right nasty when I wanted it to be, the B&B are donw right nasty when they want to be, I have to change my driving style to over come the resonance. If you have to change your driving style to move around a resonance to me that's a poorly designed system.
I'm going back to the Indy's. I spent more time at cruise RPM's than idle so I don't really care what they sound like at idle. It's not like I get out a lawn chair and sit behind my car for hours listening to my car idle, I do however cruise for hours and the resonance can be unbearable to the point of causing headaches.

Do you have a partition? When I first got my bullets I was not happy with the resonance when the windows where up. It was acceptable with the windows down. I added a partition and now I couldn't be happier, up or down.
I've got some mods to the engine heads, and I know a higher flowing exhaust would free up another 5-10hp.
Also, does anyone know if Stingers make it harder or easier to sell the car?
