Does anyone outhere knows what type of thermostat does the 2003 Z06 has, I had the LS Edit program done in San Atonio, Texas. the Halltech trap system and the entire Magnaflow system. It was recomended that I change the stat because he had programed the fans to come on a bit earlier. I don't know what type of thermostat is the best for the Z06 and I imagine or assume that it has to be a 160 degrees. It dynoed at 388.5 RWHP has not been tested yet at the track too many toys not enough time to use them all.

San ANtonio, Texas is about 160 miles from Laredo and I do not get outhere that often cuz I work 6 days a week. I should have asked him if he knew how hot of a thermostat the Z had and since I did not so that is why I am asking you smart longtime vette magicians, if you know but I guess you dont. The shop owner stated that I should install a 160 degrees stat as soon as I could and it will be in the Z sometime this weekend if I can get a decent one.

Re: Thermostat (fastgn)
I have a 180* stat which isn't really working properly as compared to others w/ the same temp stat. I had my fans lowered w/ LS1 edit. Many here would argue that 160* is too cold. Many will say 160* is fine. I noticed more people here say it's too low a temp stat. My car seems to run better at warmer temps, so I'm not changing anything. I ran my best times as the car heated up. These cars seem to like heat.

Thank-You guys (Ranger, BHP,BOBA and Dr. Ron) yesterday I ordered a 160* thermostat from Hypertech and it should be here in Laredo sometime in the next week. The reason that I want to change it is because here in Laredo, Texas summer time temps are easily way over 100* for most of the summer and if you're stuck in traffic or in one of the international bridges FORGET IT. I hope that this will aleviate some of the heathing problems.

Re: Thermostat (Ranger)
Ranger, I THINk you were agreeing with me. However, let me clarify my post just in case. When I say my car likes warmer temps, I was referring to the temp it achieves after it's warmed up. That temp is in the 192-197* range, similar to as you posted.
Yes, Dr. Ron, I was agreeing with your post and providing some amplification. Sorry I wasn't more clear.
I guest-drove a 2001 Z06 at the drags today. Car had an intake, LT headers and 3.90 gears. BUT he had the water temp regulated to max-out at 185, which is ten degrees colder than mine runs. I couldn't get the car to trap above 113 in three passes. Should have been trapping 115. I attribute the MPH-loss to reduced power from the colder engine temp.
