Hey,
If I took all 4 rotors and had the center hub section powder coated red to match the calipers??????
I saw one that was EB and had the section painted EB, looked good I thought.
The powder coat guy said 75 bucks to do it, we were just talking. What do you think???

It was probably my Z you're talking about. With slotted and drilled rotors, I get a lot of compliments on the look. I got sick of looking at rust. You could go with black if you wanted to be more understated.
Depending on the amount of use that the brakes get, standard powder-coat may bake off or start to discolor. I have problems keeping the color from changing on anodized aluminum hats, and have had problems with the powder coating flaking off on the inside of my CCW's . . . . in all fairness, the car does see a bit of track time, but the rotors will get pretty toasty given the opportunity. Most high-temp powder coats that I've seen are stable to 650 degrees, which may work for street use.
Aside from that, it's a great look on black with black . . . gold with black doesn't look too bad, either.
Thanks guys, I had not thought about the amount of heat involved.
May put this one on the back burner for a while. I think newly coated they would look good but if the heat started messing them up, that could just be an eyesore.
I wonder if powder coat will hold up, or mabye that red paint they use on the calipers????
Either can work as long as it's heat tolerant . . . normal spraypaint for example, not so good for heat.
It really comes down to how you use the car, and as such how much the brakes are used. Street and highway driving is probably not something that I'd worry about . . . the brakes are used for a period of time, get warm, then cool off a bit. They rarely really get past 'warm' when the speeds are low and/or are periodically used.
High temp powder-coat will probably cost you a few $$$'s more than high-temp brake paint . . . . the value with high-temp spraypaint is that it can be removed and re-painted once it starts flaking [as needed].
IMO, just swap for some decent 2 piece rotors w/ anodized hats.
Juandlp, very nice, what did oyu paint them with???
I also found a product called Brake Rotor Covers at corvette central, 249 for a set of 4. Thats expensive, but they could be trafnsferred from rotor to rotor.
The red looked good.

That's what mine are (but I got them from Ecklers.) I've done several DE events with them on and had no problems. All you have to do to install them is remove the wheels and unbolt the calipers to slip them on.
Mad had some stuff called Caliper and rotor paint for 39.99. So I ordered it and the Fred Beans special on ceramoic pads and those SS pad covers.
Hopefully this will dress up my brake package and keep it from looking like a mess all the time, the amount of pad dust is unreal. I went to ceramics on my truck and thoink they are great.
I hope the red hats and ss pad covers make it look better, I needed a new project
That is how I have my 04 Z16 setup. I wished that I had changed the brake pads first then painted the roter hats. I'm fight the excessive brake dust from the stock performance pads. If i do it again, I''l swap pads and repaint my rotor hats red to match my stock calipers. Rears look awesome, fronts look like I gotr a bearing/oil leak.

I think it would look good - especially with black wheels like on the picture in this thread of the EB car -
I use Amzoil Metal Protectant (MP) on the top hat portion of my rotors to keep them looking good - same stuff I use on my guns.
MP will keep them from rusting - just spray it on a rag, wipe on and then when done I use alcohol on the swept areas to kepp them from contaminating the pads.
