Default 1st post - 2001 ZO6 Cost

Will be looking at a 01 ZO6 tomorrow. Has 11K miles. Owner is asking $34,990. Saturday, I will look at a 02 ZO6. Has 15,500 miles. Asking price is $35,500. Which of the two prices would be close to the persent value of its car? Appreciate any info I can get on this.

hey welcome. i'm actually gonna be in the same position as you soon. i'd say they r in equal shape, get the 02. that seems a bit high for an 01. they r about equal mileage, so why not spend the extra couple hundred and get the 405hp. just my .02cents. good luck

The '02 is less likely to have oil consumption issues.

The brand new 04s are now down to around $42K. Recent posts have indicated that low mileage 03s are going for around $37-38K. Using that as a guide post, the price on the 02 seems in the ballpark, but maybe $500-$1000 too high. I also would go with the 02. Best wishes.

I don't care about price. There is no way I'd ever consider an 01 Z06 after having owned one, or should I say being owned by one. The oil consumption issue would keep me away from them, period. Go for the 02.

Thanks to all for the info. I had read something about the 01's but could not recall where or what it was about. Will look at the 01 tomorrow and see what the owner offers relative to problems with this model. Again, thanks and will probably have more questions as I look at the various cars.

I bought my '01 in September for $36K - 1,700 miles, now have 3,400 on it and no oil problems. $35K 9 months later and with many more miles sounds out of line.

Talked to the owner of the 2002 ZO6 and he has sold the car. Oh,well! Went and drove the 2001 ZO6 today. First C5 I have driven and I was imrpessed. The car was immaculate and the only thing I found wrong/broken was the floor mat on the drivers side. One of the latches(??) that holds the mat was broken. Mat could not be hooked. Liked the car, but all the comments relative to the oil comsumption scare me so I did not make an offer. From general conversation on the price, my impression is he thought it was a reasonable and fair price. Get home to find that a 01 ZO6 black/red and black interior appeared in the ads. Will try to look at this one.

My oldest son had an '01 ZO6 and liked it a lot. It burned some oil. Maybe a quart every 2K miles. Some of the '01 models burn more, some less. It doesn't seem to have any significant effect on performance.

If you have a choice between an '01 and an '02 at the same price and in about the same condition, pick the '02.

If you find an '01 you like in good condition at the right price, ask some questions about oil consumption. It wouldn't be a deal-killer for me if the car burned some oil.

But it's your decision.
