So, the Z06 I am lined up to buy was hit and had front fender damage. The entire fender was replaced, but not by a GM fender, it does not match up and will have to be replaced again. Now if this car is worth getting I would get it for even more discounted (to replace the fender etc.) Would you buy the car and replace the fender assuming no suspension damage? Would a Tigershark front end replace the fender?
I wouldn't consider buying any car that's been damaged in an accident. You never know what else was affected. And it sounds like the repairs were made on the cheap. My advice is to keep looking.
The insurance appraisal was $4200, which is more than a front fender. I am a little skeptical, but we are getting a copy of the appraisal to see what exactly was the issue. If it is suspension, I am staying far far away. If it is merely the fender and the front clip, I might discount the car and buy a Tigershark front end. Just looking for comments.

I would move on. The prices on new and used Z06s are so good right now that's it's just not worth the potential headache down the road. If there was $4200 in damage, you know that there was more involved than just the fender. Best wishes.
The caveat is that this car is a trade in with a dealer friend of mine. It is a 2002 Z06 with 5800 miles that was in prestine condition. I was getting the car for trade in value at $33,500. Assuming I can get the car for just under $30,000 and all there was was fender damage that would need to be replaced, now is it worth it?
It is indeed much more than just fender damage, with a $4200 estimate. More than likely a bumper cover, headlamp, fog lamp, possible hood damage, maybe suspension. I have never heard of an aftermarket front fender for a C5. No, the tigershark front will not "hide" the fender damage.
I guess I'll be different and say go for it. $5,000 isn't much of a dinger these days. The insurance appraisal should detail exactly what was done. I am amazed to learn there are non-oem fenders available. Learn something new everyday.
Take the car out to get it looked at by a competent menchanic. Have them do an alignment on it, and if everything checks out, steal it.
These days you can "steal" a perfect car with no damage at all. Why "steal" one that comes with damage and major question marks? Even if you have to spend a couple grand more, trust me, you will feel better in the long run if you get one with no damage and a clean history. This is going to be your baby. If you get the one that you're looking at, every time something goes wrong, whether it's related to the past damage or not, you'll be kicking yourself and it will just diminish the joy of having the car. Good luck and be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
Buying a car that has been wrecked is a dangerous thing to do because any number of things could have been damaged that either were not identified or haven't yet surfaced.
I'm not talking about panels, but rather suspension, steering, driveline and braking systems (not to mention electronics). It's advisable to replace seatbelts that have been subjected to a crash load, btw.
It's not really a good way to try to save money, and there are a number of cars on the market, particularly if you're willing to travel out of town.
