Default z16 vs. Z06

OK,

You can now get a Z06 for about $42,000. You can get a Z16 for about $45,300. The Z06 is $11,500 off MSRP while the Z16 is $12,000 off MSRP. I had decided on the Z16, but now I question myself, is the Z16 worth $3,300 more than the Z06. I think I will see that difference on the back end when I want to sell it, if not more. I am saving more on the Z16 and getting a label with it - "commemerative edition." I still think I am leaning to the Z16. I am not going to mod either car that much, maybe an intake but I think either one I would leave the Ti exhaust. What do you think?

Are you buying the car as an investment or to have fun with? Buying any car as an investment is a bad idea. If you're just buying a car to have fun with then get whichever color combination you like best. I don't think I would ever buy the Z16 just because I can't stand the stripes, I LOVE the blue color however. I bought a Machine Silver standard Z06 and bought it specifically to have fun with

Well I am buying for fun and as a daily drive. I do, however, want to minimize my downside risk. Not to say that I am looking at this car as an investment, because I am not. Just looking to "insure" against the bottom dropping out when the C6s come along. I like the stripes and love the color of the Z16. I wonder, at these huge discounts, do many think that regardless of the car alot of the immediate hit in depreceiation and effect of the C6 is built in?

I thought I should of waited, but I guess the last two months with the car are worth the extra money.
I bought this as a fun weekend driver and car to drive to shows. I love it!!
I can only hope it retains some of it's value over other Z06's. I know it's not the same but look at the values of the 96 Grand Sport, who knows?

Just enjoy it!

If you like it, get it. I don't think this car is going to be getting much more than a normal Z06 in the future, stickers and badges isn't going to fool people down the road. It will probably be worth a few thousand more just like it is now. The whole concept of it was to celebrate the C5 getting 2 wins in GTS at Lemans and they actually now have 3 wins.

I wouldn't focus on the depreciation. I would look at it purely as a matter of personal and whether the differences between the two are worth an extra few grand. I, personally, don't like the stripe thing, but I can see why others do. Good luck.

I went through the same process. Basically I just liked the Z16 better. I'm not concerned about resale, or collectible status. I'll take good care of her and if/when it comes time to sell I'll try to get the most out of her. But for now, I've been so very happy. I own a '98 Pace Car also; same situation. Buy what you really want and enjoy it... Forget about the money....

Those $3000 more should only be spent if you think that YOU will like the car better. When it's time to sell, the Z16 and Z06 will probably sell for the same price. After all, their bluebook price will be the same since its the same car and the Z16 isn't really rare or limited
If you're looking for a car that will be easy to sell, you probably should be looking at a torch red one...

I think I am going to go with the Z16 for my reasons stated above, and I like to be unique. I have yet to see a Z16 on the road here in south florida.

My friend, you're giving this way too much thought

Life is short, Death is long...buy the car you want, and forget about all that other stuff,

There will always be a newer faster Vette.

good luck!

re sale is a big consideration

how much will a 2001 z06 (modified) be worth in 2 years compared to a 2004 Z16? (My car cost 34k BTW)

life is too short and it is all about HP anyway.....

i keep looking at this pic and would rather wait for the new 2006 500hp model. and enjoy the 450hp in my used 2001. Your new Z16 in 1 year will be just like all the others???....." the old C5 "

Hey- canes-I'm in your neck of the woods-can you tell me where you are finding '04 Z06's (not CE) for $2. So far the lowest I've found was $43.5. Are you looking out of state? Would appreciate an answer as I'll be looking to close a deal on an '04 within the week.

Well I was going to purhase from Monica and she would meet Les Stanford's Z06 sales price. What you might want to do is see if Les Stanford's $11,500 off is advertisedo n his website, then take it to Lou Bachrodt, they seem most willing to dea.

Call Holiday Chevrolet in St Cloud. Ask for Bob Jennings. He will take care of you.
