[Z06] C6 Delivery
In late '03, GM communicated to all Chevrolet dealers that they should expect a future memo in the first quarter of 04 discussing the required guidelines of being a Corvette dealer, distribution of C6 and other Corvette related info. GM has not yet sent that memo. All Chevrolet dealers should know this. We have been told (of course subject to change) that the C6 Corvette will be a traditional model year rollout which means we usually start getting new Corvettes in late July followed by high volume units in August. In 97 the C5 Corvette was distributed to high volume Corvette dealers first in multiple units, smaller dealers around the nation had to wait to get their C5. In ‘03, the opposite distribution philosophy took place, the 50th anniversary models were distributed one each to every Corvette dealer in the nation (there are approximately 3800 Corvette dealers out of approximately 4200 Chevrolet dealers). Should GM decide to distribute the C6 as they did the ‘03 Anniversary models that would mean approximately 3800 Corvettes, one to each dealer in the corvette program will be distributed before any dealer gets multiple units placed regardless of the size of their allocation. Depending on the line rate of production at new corvette model startup it could take a couple of months for each dealer to receive their first corvette. When we at Kerbeck posted on the forum that your deposits would be refundable if your C6 order was not placed within the first 90 days of US Retail Production, we did so because at this point in time the dealers dont know how GM is going to handle distribution of the C6. If distribution is similar to 97 then certainly our sold orders will be placed sooner. If distribution is similar to the ‘03 Anniversary model, then, real world even for us it may take up to the 90 days. In either case Kerbeck will see to it all of our sold orders are placed a.s.a.p. I realize this is a long answer but your question is important to a lot of people and is worthy of a complete answer. At Kerbeck we always try to under promise and over deliver. As the number one volume corvette dealer for many years we have earned a huge allocation of Corvettes from GM. Our C6 list is shorter than many competitors because we just recently figured out how to start taking deposits based on these facts. Thank you for considering Kerbeck as your C6 dealer, we appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. As more C6 info becomes available from GM we will post it on the forum. Please call me if I can be of any further help, my name is Bruce Newstat, Kerbeck Corvette General Manager. If after 20 years in the Corvette department at Kerbeck, there are questions I can’t answer, I'll just get with the boss, George Kerbeck and we’ll both call you back, between the two of us we should be able to help.
