Default First SCCA Solo

I'm thinking about trying an SCCA solo event this weekend. I need some advice / help. What air pressure for the tires, front and back? Do I need to add the extra quart of oil for a solo? Any other advice on the best way around the course?

Thanks.

I find for Solo II events, the stock tire pressure, or maybe an extra 2 or 3 lbs. at most works best for the F1 Supercars. If I'm on a high speed track, I prefer an extra 5 lbs. cold, which works out to about 42 psi fully hot.

Definitely put the extra quart of oil in for Solo II.

Best advice I can give you is to walk the course in the morning several times so you can get familiar with it. Have an experienced driver or instructor ride with you at least once to give you pointers. When you're working the course, watch how the better drivers take the turns, and watch the line they follow. In general, you want to be SMOOTH. Smooth out the lines in the turns, and be smooth with the gas, brakes, and steering inputs. Remember, slow is fast, and autrocross is 80% driver, 20% car, so don't feel bad if you see a little Honda Civic get much better times than you.

You might want to post this in the autox/roadracing forum. Be specific whether you are going to run Solo I or II (autox). Since this is your first time, the only requirement is to have fun ! Don't worry about your times.

Very good advice
Don't feel bad when other cars like civics get a better time, theres alot more to solo II than meets the eye. This reply hit most good novice info. Also the SCCA web site has a Solo II section with a printable instruction guide for new people.
