Default Front screen Z06

I don't have a Z06 Vette just a plain C-5. I wonder if your front screens on the Z06 give any extra cooling? From what I see the Radaitor pick up the air under the car box that block off anything flowing into the engine carpartment from the bumper. Or is their a hole cut so the air flow into the radaitor from the bumper.

It does bring cooler air into the engine. It's serving two purposes, better air intake and lower temp. The two kinda go together anyway, if you know what I mean.

BTW, you don't have "just a plain C5" you got a nice coupe.

I am probably being too literal in reading your question. If so, please forgive me, I'm old

This is what someone told me:

The screens look good. However, it is the air ducts behind the screens that improve performance.

The ones in the front route air to the engine, reducing engine temperatures and providing more air for the engine to breathe. The ones just in front of the rear wheel wells direct air to the rear brakes, improving braking performance by reducing heat-induced fade.

It is my understanding that the foglamps on the non-Z06 blocks air flow. Z06's do not have fog lamps and clear access for the air flow.

If you look behind the screens on a Z06 you can see into the engine compartment (at least the lower cavity near the radiator). Since the Z doesn't have fog lights the entire opening is OPEN. While on the coupe they have the black plastic plate. You could drill big round holes in the plastic screen or remove it completely. Then install the Z06 screens to cover the RAW unfinished opening.

How much performance gains are achieved by this is unclear to me. The Z engineers feel it's worth something at highway speeds and up.

Good luck

Tom

My feeling also are the Z06 engineers must have figure out something with the front screen area going to the air intake. I was just wondering if any air got to the radaitor or should you cut away some of the sheet plactic from the front of the radaitor to let cooler air get to the radaitor or just let the air go to the air filter box and let the radaitor air come up from the bottom.

The radiator is just fine, the screens are for cold air to the air filter, adding fog lamps to a Z06 does not block anything.

I agree. There's nothing "plain" about your C5!( I know what you meant, though)

I met a coupe today at a light. Nice day around here and he had his top off. i offered him $50 to switch cars with me today!
