Toyo T1S Proxes...
I've had these on for 2 weeks now and here are my thoughts:
1. Steering response not quite as quick as the GY SC's ( softer sidewall)
2. Great ride and feel ( gives you warning when they are about to break loose)
3. Much quiter than the GY's
4. Deeper tread depth -280 treadwear rating
5. They look like the GY GSD tires
6. Track straighter than the GY's on grooved roads
7. Much better traction than the GY's
I like these tires ALOT and the price was good too...less than $800.00 if you do your homework.
Just thought I'd pass this on for those of you looking for new rubber

Since you are in CA -I doubt that you have experienced a big rain yet. But the toyos are supposed to be excellent in the rain as well as tested by a Florida driver on the forum. These tires would be my choice also.

Great news! I had a set on my 93 and have to replace the GY's on my 01. I liked the way they handle in the rain! I'll have to order a set soon!! Thanks!!

You are going to love them in the rain, and your #1 problem will get better as the tread blocks wear down and get some more heat cycles. Tall, skinny tread blocks wobble more when force is applied as in breaking and turning.

We don't get much rain, but from what I had heard on the forum, the wet traction was just awesome..that's another reason I bought them. I read the post about the 80 mph ride in the rain:-) In the desert the rain can come on suddenly.
The wife really noticed a difference in ride and she is just that much more comfortable riding on these long trips
