I downloaded the infraview software, however, when the box popped up asking which things I wanted to associate with the program I didn't check any. When I opened the program there was just a black blank window. Did I do something wrong? I'd like to try to resize my pics as you said the program should be able to do..Thanks for the help! Ron

Nope, just click the Open icon, or File, then Open, and find a pic in your files.
It always starts out with a blank screen until you open a pic in it.
Once you have a picture displayed in it, click "image", then select "resize/resample". Plug in your desired size, and that's it. Save the newly revised image, and as a hint, when you first save a .jpg , click the "options" button on the save as screen....set the quality slider to about 90-95%. You won't lose any visible pic quality, but it will knock the file size down considerably. If you save at 100%, the file size will be enormous.

Actually, you can reduce it to 30% and really crunch the file size. A computer monitor cannot display more information than that in the .jpg file.
If you want to print the pic .... then you need to leave the quality at 100%.
Thanks Grumpy for the site, I have to work on learning how to but always good to have friends to help.. so, let's see if this works for me! (wouldn't want anybody hating me! lol )
Great tool for resizing, but I can't get Photo Host/Mystic to upload the resized image. Properties still show as 480 x 272 mp even when IrfanView resizes them down to 450 x 238. Any suggestions? TIA

Reload the page or clear your temp internet files....If you saved the resized image with the same filename, your browser has probably cached the old image, and that's what your seeing. I find it easier to just save undr a different filename if I'm replacing an already uploaded pic.

I did save the resized file under a different, but similiar name, ie SigPic2 vs SigPic1.
I'll retry clearing the temp internet files and completely unrelated file name. Thanks,
