Default Partition and autox question

I am going to my first local club event autox tomorrow (I have been to other drag and road track events), and I was wondering if I should take out my Eckler's partition? I have it velcroed in with heavy duty velcro/tape, so it will be a hassle to take out and put back in later (the velcro is taped to the bottom of the partition, and the heavy duty velcro hooks into the carpet).

I am going to take evey thing out of the car with the exception of the partition and trunk lid liner. Do you guys think it is ok to leave in the partition, particullarly since it is pressure fit AND has velcro?

Also, is it absolutely necessary to take out the mats in a Z06, considering it has those stay hooks? I know you don't want anything in the car that can fly around, but I personally don't feel this is a problem.

Please advise,

Chris

I think you are fine with the partition in. I remove mine for road course events because above 100 it flutters and makes a bad sound. However, for low speed autox I wouldn't think this is a problem. Also, I leave my mats in for what it is worth as they don't flop around at all. Happy

Default Partition and autox question

I would leva the partition in place as long as it is a rigid partition and not a flexible partition.

As to the mats I would definitely remove them since you never want anything to get loose under your feet. I don't care if the chances are or less than 10%, you don't need the risk to yourself and potentially others.

Also I would lock or remove everything from the gloveboxes. I would also empty the trunk, to reduce anything of weight. The partition, if solid, should not let anything come through.

I have never had any vibration with my solid partition up to 155-160 mpg at Watkins Glen, Pocono, and elsewhere.

If its a corvette club autox. It's probably ok. If its SCCA, those guys play by the rules. Remove the partition, remove the floor mats, remove the center caps. It sucks trying to borrow a floor jack and a torque wrench at the track because the tech. inspector says "remove those items or you don't pass tech"

And don't try to educate the inspector because "he must not know anything about corvettes" cause it tends to ****'m off.

Have fun, don't let damn Miata's get ya!!

Those damn miatas can embarrass one in an autox, if it's the foam rubber patrician and not SCCA leave it in.
