I use Mobil 1 synthetic 75w-90 gear lube and GM limited slip additive. The service manual (2004) recommends a synthetic 75w-90 axle lubricant and the additive. Mobil 1, Redline and Amsoil are popular choices and probably less expensive then Mr. Goodwrench's product.
Could you please let us know how difficult a DIY this repair is? Most of us will probably end up doing this once the cars come off warranty. And I haven't seen any post on just whats involved. Are there any pullers that are required etc. Or is it just a lot of parts to get out of the way before you can replace the seal. That is if you don't mind!! Keep us posted if you don't mind.

I will keep everyone posted as soon as I finish the job I had this fixed by the dealer last year but it came back. It does'nt look to hard from what I can tell I got her up on stands and the drivers side wheel off since that is the side leaking. I purchased the required seals from my local GM dealer along with the friction modifer and Mobil 1 syn. fluid 75/90. My warranty ran out last month. From what I can tell it looks like you take the brake sys off along with the supension parts and remove the trans ax and you should be able to get the diff cover off. I will take pics and post when I complete the job.
