Default CLB Install...need advice

I got my CLB from Thunder Racing. I'll be installing it before my next ride.

I'm most concerned about cracking the interior panels when removing them (I've read both the LS1 and 97Vette instructions).

I'd appreciate any additional advice, as "all you guys" that have done the install say it's a "piece of cake".

Thanks,
Cyd

The instructions were easy to follow. Removing the panels was easy. The plastic pieces are very forgiving. I had more problems disconnecting the oem column lock wiring connector. Look carefully at the cig. lighter connector supplied with the CLB kit and you can see how the two pieces lock together. Slide a very small screw driver blade down the inside edge of the connector and it will easily pull apart. After that it's a piece of cake

Default clb

it's not that bad.
i don't have precision hands and i did mine pretty easy.
after removing the 4 torx screws the left side trim kinda pulls out and down as it unsnaps.
reach your left hand over the top of the strg wheel as you gently pull the area around the ign cyl out just enough to get the lower trim piece out using your right hand to gently pull out a little and down.
the wires on mine were right down at the bottom of the column.
in fact if you lay on your back and look up at the bottom of the column you can get to it by removing the bottom screws if you know what you're looking for.
the retainers you screw the bottom screws into was the hardest part.
the lower wires kinda get in the way when you go to screw them back in. so you may have to use your other hand to guide the screws up into the retainers.
i had more problem with that a/c sensor thing. use a bright lite so you can see that the connector separates by lifting up the edge of it to get it over the little nub.same with the clb.
i hope this helps.
i printed out the '97 instructions you mentioned and referred to them as i went.

If I can do it anyone can
I also had some concerns but all of the plastic was in one piece when I finished. Kind of strange now when I go to get out of the car and the steering wheel is not locked

GOOD MOD

The plastic pieces are plastic, not glass. Just follow the directions and take your time. It will be over in 15 minutes.

The toughest part for me was getting on my back and finding the right wires.

Timely post. Just got my CLB today. Thanks for the tips - I'll use these when I do mine.

BTW - I tried to find you at Bloomington but never saw your license plate. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet. Maybe at another event.

I found that the dash was easier than I expected to take apart. Also, it went back together well and held tight. I have taken MANY dash panels off different cars over the years, I found this one to be one of the easiest.

i had no problems taking the panel off, but putting it back on was kinda tricky. But the relief you get knowing that you won't get the column to lock is well worth it. The install took me about 10-15 minutes, and that's with taking your time.
