I noticed how the MPH is displayed on the info bar when setting cruise control - is there anyway to get a permanent speed indication on this? I miss this feature from my Boxster, and also where I have the steering wheel it cuts out the top of the speedo.

Hi Sam -
If my memory serves me, the speed that shows up on the DIC display when setting the cruise is simply the "set" speed of the cruise - it has no relationship to the current road speed of the vehicle.
As has been previously pointed out, there is no configuration option that will allow your road speed to be displayed in real time on the DIC display.
As noted above, the HUD shows the road speed on the inside of the windshield in front of the driver, so this would satisfy your need. I have heard that some folks have retro-fit the HUD into cars not originally equipped with it, so you have that option to investigate.
If you are looking down at the DIC ... why not look at the speedometer? That would accomplish the same thing ... unless you want digital readout ... and do not have HUD.
FWIW: The C5 (below) has NO DIC, NO HUD, NO CRUISE CONTROL, and NO SPEEDO!
---My wife gets edgy when the speed of the C5 surpasses the numbers posted on those PESKY signs along the side of the highway ... you know ... the ones that say SPEED LIMIT!? Anyway ... whilst zipping along the PA Turnpike at about 75 - 85 MPH ... I engaged the KPH ... and the needle shot up to the equivalent of that of our foreign counterparts! I then asked the wife ... so, how does it feel to be doing 120 (or whatever the speed was)! SHE FREAKED! Did a double take to check the speed (but did not notice KPH). She was livid!
When she saw me switch back to MPH ... she engaged the infamous LEFT TURN CLYDE maneuver (ouch)!
