what does the ls1 edit do that a predator, etc can't do?
i'm confused on how they differ. i'd like to have something i could plug in to show me codes, tune it and make it shift firmer etc.
how much can you expect to gain performance wise? do you have to reset everything if you make a mod?
thanks,
doug

LS-1 Edit is a software whereby you can adjust all electronic parameters that govern the the car's operation. Air fuel mixture, shift points, shift strength, tire size, timing, power curve, rev limiters, sensor strength and calibration ....Literally anything in the cars electronics. To My mind, the best bang for the buck.
I had my 2000 A4 coupe dynotuned with LS-1 Edit by the Vette Docs early this year and i can tell you, It is the best $299 I ever spent. I picked up 18 rwhp and 27 rwtq from jut the edit. But forget the numbers.... the difference in sotp feel was incredible. I cant wait to mount my headers so i can get it done again and feel that incredible boost
You might get some decent responses in the Scan and Tune section. Also, there is a new kid on the block regarding logging and changing your PCM, do a search for VCM Suite...

I'm putting headers on this fall and then headed for Dynotech Engineering in Ft. Wayne, IN for what they call a PCM Calibration. They didn't give the software a name.
As it was explained to me they will put it on the dyno for the afternoon and can do as many as 15 dyno pulls as they tune the PCM. They specifically said it was not called LS1 Edit. I've heard extremely good things about this organization. With the basic bolt on mods that I've got (BW/Drilled Fog Lite Ducts, soon to be LG Pro LT's w/ no cats, and GHL), I've been told I could see 30 or more rwhp out of the program as I started out bone stock and have 33k miles at this point.
But they're quoting me $500-550 for the day depending on how many dyno pulls it takes to max it out.
Any thoughts? I guess I'm just as confused. Especially w/ the $299 thing.
for $299.00 what did they do? was that a basic street tune(trans and shift points) or a dyno tune where they do everything (air/fuel fans, timing)?
Everything, and I mean everything. Carmen spent 3 1/2 hours on my car and did 8 pulls. tweaked a little and did a pull, treaked some more, did another pull till he had it just where I wanted it
That's funny, I live in Ft Wayne. $500 from Dynotech sounds pretty steep. I wonder if LPE in Decatur still just does tuning. It would be about the same price, I bet.

Thanx.

That $299 was a Forum special so i dont know if your 500 is a bargain or not for your area. I think it was about 100 bucks lower than his normal price. If you look up Vette Doctors on the left and give carmen a call, I am sure he would be happy to talk to you and give an opinion. I would also check the midwest forum and see if anyone there has any good experiences and prices Good luck
also I would get a clearer picture from Dynotech on what they will do. sounds like it might be an LS-1 Edit, But then again, It sounds like it might not be

Not to jump on your post but I'm still interested in people who have used the hypertech and or the predator. I don't believe they could be that much different. Please, I want to make a conscious decision, so I need as much imput as I can about all three products.
So for the originator of this thread and many others that might have the same issue.........Thanks in advance,
