I couldn't sleep the day before I picked up the car, nor could I sleep the first night with the car. Finally gave up trying and went into the garage around 4 a.m. and read the owner's manual and started playing with the various features.
Since it's a 6-speed your first mod needs to be a Steering Column Lock By-Pass. Thunder Racing sell's theirs for $55. It can be installed in 30 minutes or less and it truely a plug and play err drive device.
Then I'd spend the $20 and by-pass the CAGS. After that I'd do the following.
1. Blackwing or any other good high flow intake. maybe $225
2. Hurst shifter and a good ****. Consider the MGW line or if your into retro the new Hurst cue ball style **** is cool. A good **** will eliminate any rattles/buzzes the Hurst will cause with the OEM ****. Hurst $155 and a good **** another $50
3. A VE short shifter boot (reusing the OEM POS just looks so tacky) $55
4. Gauge Bezel's. $85 to $95 and thay add so much class to the C5 cluster.
5. Steering wheel decal, $20 and looks great
You'll want to look into a new intake. Donaldson Blackwing is among the most popular but there are dozens of choices. Other than that you can mess around under the hood with Mass Air Flow Sensors, couplers and such. But you won't see a tremendous gain from all that. I recommend getting the PCM callibrated once you've got the intake on to get the computer running properly.
Beyond that any good mods always involve a c,omma.
Welcome Aboard!

I just ordered the Halltech stinger air intake--will I need to get the PCM calibrated??
I had to postpone my delivery of my 1st Vette by 24 hours back in January because of ice/sleet on the roads. It felt like the clock is running backwards.
