Magnetic Drain Plug?
Sounds cheap enough but does it do more than $2 worth of work? Why is this not more popular with other car manufacturers if it is so great or is it? Will there really be metal shavings on it when you change the oil? If so I think that everyone should have one.

If it pulls anything out it's a good thing. As long as it doesn't keep happening. Most of the engine is aluminum so that's not magnetic but there are steel parts in there that could start to go at some point. And for $2 it's an early warning system. Maybe!!!!

If you see metal shavings, you are in trouble. Get one if it gives you peace of mind.

For the $2, it certainly can't hurt.

I should've been more specific..Two in my car...one in my oil pan...another for my tranny drain plug
I could also put one in my differential drain but haven't gotten around to that yet.

Where are you getting them for $2.00? I bought a couple at the dealer the other day and they cost me $4.00 each. But it will still be worth it.
