Default need help about a z06

What do you guys think is a better deal ? A new z16 for 44,000 ( i have a gm card) . or a 2003 blk/blk with 1,600 on the clock for 38,500.
Both cars are from dealers out of state , but not to far. With the way the market is going im not sure.I wanted a electron blue , but cant get it in a o4. The lemans blue is close, but only comes as z16.

You can tell by my sig what I think.
This was my first brand new Vette so I went for the Z16. And who knows it might be worth something someday?
Someday... a long time away.
I did not buy this as an investment, but I hope that it may hold value similiar to the Grand Sport or 96 CE.

Both are great cars, the 04 has au updated suspension plus you get the carbon fiber hood and zero miles on the odo.

Default Z16

38K is a very good deal on a low mile '03; but I'd still go with the Z16. #1486 and I love driving it every day.

Default Tough decision

That is a great price on the Z16 and new is always
However, out the door with NY sales tax at 8.5% the difference will be $6K.....or more if the dealer charges any additional fees (most do). And the '03 is basically a new car with that low mileage.

This is a tough decision but from a purely monetary standpoint, I would save the $6K+ and get the '03 with 1600 miles.

if you have the $$, why not go for the 04? but the 03 is a great alternative..either way, you cant lose.

Either way your getting a great ride. IMHO buy it new. You won't regret being the only one driving it from birth. You will get over the $ difference.

This would be my first new vette ,if i go with the z16. I think the z16 will hold a little better value say over 3 years. I dont like the look of the c6. I have seen it in person at the ny auto show up close before the general public. I think its just a reskin of a c5. So if the new c6 zo6 , is really a different car (500hp etc) say in 3 years it may be worth tradding up to. Right now I have a tripleblk conv. The o3 from an apearance standpoint is almost the same car as I have , but at almost 6k difference. The only thing a sure of is I want zo6.

It's a tough call. I personally don't think the Z16 is going to hold its value all that more than a regular C5 Z06, and I personally don't like the Z16. I think that black on black is awesome. So I'd go with the 03 and take the money I'd save and put it into some quality mods. But, if you like the stripes and stuff, by all means go for the Z16. The bottom line is that either way, you can't lose.

The money shouldn't be the issue. The issue should be "Which one do you like best?" Either way, you are spending a lot of money. For that kind of money, I am going to get the one I like best. If that means spending and extra 14.3% to get it, so be it. On the other hand, if that means saving 5,500... well, that's just a bonus.

Listen to your heart, choose the one you like best. That is my opinion.

imo...both great rides! but one thing to keep in mind...the "new" '04 Z16 ZO6 ISN'T really new. You're buying a year old car. Also, if it was so hot, do you really think dealers would still have them in stock...& be offering them at such steep discounts??

Get the 04 Z16. I bought one and love it. In a couple years it will be the most desirable. Look back at the last 02 Camaro SS. The special edition with the stripes now hold the best value by far. I bought a regular SS and lost my rear on resale, while the special editions with little more than decals and embroidery still bring top dollar today.

One thing I like about my Z16 is being a special edition, I'm resisting the urge to modify it. I was debating between a base Z06 and modding it up, or a Z16 and leaving it stock. Since I only keep cars about 2 - 3 years I decided to go with the Z16 Z06. Like I mentioned earlier, I learned my lesson with the 02 Camaro SS. Spent a fortune and a lot of time wasted modifying one. Then practically gave it away, while the special edition 2002 SS left stock are highly desireable and valuable today. On my Z16 Z06 two mods totalling $95.12 and I'm done. $95 for a partition and .12 for a radio shack resistor to bypass the 1 - 4 shift, now it is perfect. Both must do mods on the Z06.

I would get the price down on the 03 or search around for a similar deal with a lower price and mod the hell out of it and enjoy. You may not feel right modding the z16 so go with the 03!

Questions like this are great - there is no wrong answer. I love my CE, and it was my first new vette (I had an 87 and a 90 ZR1). I just loved sitting in there and getting high on the smell of new corvette.
