Since there are roughly 35-36,000 Vettes built each year. I figure that is approximately 3000 per month. I figure that a vehicle with last five digits of serial # 12487 would be built in the fifth month of production, probably early that month. Since the production year starts in August I would guestimate that the above # would have been built about the first week of December. Try this test with your own serial number and see how close it works out.
And hopefullly Sponge Vette will accomodate your request.
And you can go the your dealership and ask for a report on your car. They put your VIN# in the computer and it spits out about a 5 to 10 page report of all that has happened to your car since it was new. It includes the born on date along with a few other things that get scanned in the plant. Great thing to have for your scrap book.
Hi
Does anyone know how I can find the date that my Vette was built? Thanks in advance
Tom
You can also buy the build sheet (which has the build date and a whole lot more) from the Museum if interested. It's kind of pricey for a lamenated piece of paper... 40 bucks... but it's a cool momento to have of your car.

I have the build sheet for my car (purchased from the NCM), and cannot locate the build date on it?
I do know what my car's build date is...but it's not on the build sheet that I can see. The only date I can see on it, is the date the order was printed or entered, which in my case is a couple weeks before the actual build date. My car was built 5/8/01, the date of the build sheet is 4/27/01.
If the actual build date is listed on there..where? (I'd scan mine, but it's too big for my scanner).
