Just left the tuner after dropping a load of cash for heads, cam, headers, etc. He guarantees me 440 RWHP on his dyno after all his work is finished. I am trying to get a subjective (obviousely) idea of whether I should go with Corsa Touring or Indy mufflers on the catbacks. I do not want LOUD! However, I want to hear what I paid for when I want to hear it like at idle and under WOT.
Can anyone put in perspective for me the difference in the sound quality and amplitude of these respective options. I have a 6 speed and will be running Kooks long tubes with hi flow cats and X pipe.
I have listened to the audio bits, but really can't compare an audio clip to another. Maybe someone has heard both up close or had both and can tell me the difference on the same motor setup.
Bill, I have a Vette Doctors H/C package with Kooks LTs running through a set of Corsa Daytona Tourings. Like yourself I agonized over which system to get and decided on the Tourings and am glad I did. The difference as I understand it is the Indy Pace are louder overall except at WOT where there really isn't much difference between the two. After replacing the FLPs with the Kooks, let me tell you things got louder. So as a older owner of a C5, the Tourings are just right and IMHO would be for you based on your post. Whichever you choose, good luck with your choice.

I've got the Corsa Touring and they perform as advertised. I can hear them under acceleration, but not at idle or cruise. They're not as loud as many others, but you might want to hear them "live".
I have the Indys with xpipe and the sound is nice and quiet and cruise and lofting around, but quite "nice" when stomping on it and WOT. I do understand that opening up the breathing more will make it quite louder.
Maybe it was me but I noticed a distinct sound difference after the Blackwing, High Flow Intake, and ported throttle body. I do still here a slight burble (kinda like a motorcycle) when letting off the throttle in a lower gear. Xpipe removed the motorboat popping gurgling a long time ago.
Thanks to all who replied. I know these threads get monotonous as hell as they are like "what color vette should I get!" However, I could get enough from the responses to solidify my decision to go with the touring Corsas. Besides, am I the only one that thinks that a quiet car actually "seems" faster?

Probably seems faster because it is. After installation you will probably catch yourself accelerating faster just to hear the exhaust working.

C54FUN, how much louder are the tourings during idle and cruise over the stock muffler system? I'd HOPE that you got more sound at WOT, but what about the rest of the time?
I have the Corsa Indies with GTR tips and absolutely love them. While the Touring is made to be much quieter, I do like the gentle exhaust sounds of the Indy Pace system that I have. When combined with the X-pipe, it really quiets the inside of the car without sacrificing the exhaust notes that others outside the car will hear.
But when you put your foot into it, you'll LOVE the throaty exhaust sounds.
Try this like at the Corsa website:
http://www.corsaperf.com/audiomenu.htm
The problem is that you have no idea how loud it really is; you only get the tone. If I turn my volume up all the way, is that what I'll hear or if I turn it down is that what I'll hear? See the problem?

With my touring (plus Corsa X-pipe)/Tiger Shark tips - it isn't nearly as loud as say Borlas, Stingers, etc. The volume certainly goes up with RPMs, but I've been two cars back from a modified (blown) Z06 with Borlas and couldn't hear myself think. I'd say the touring system is enough to let people know you've got something there - but not so as to attract the attention of LEOs.
I have long tubes, low cats X pipe and fitted Indy Pace Exhaust. As soon as I started the car up I realized I had made the wrong choice. As a cat back only system they are fine but with headers they are just too loud. They will ruin your driving experience. I then tried Magnaflows and they have a really deep sound but too much reasonance for me. I now have a ZO6 Ti cat back system which is superb. That mated to my headers etc is just right. Mellow but authoritive. factory exaust systems shouldn't be written off entirely and I highly recommend you retain all the stuff you remove! Standard C5 system $1,290.00, Ti ZO6 system...$2,600.00!! from G.M. Get my point. STORE IT. Good luck.
I have the Indy's on an A4, and when I only had longtubes, they were fine. Now with a cam in there, a baby cam, might I add (220 duration), the Indy's are too loud. Looking at swapping them for tourings now
Touring here with an X-pipe. I like the sound...but will probably go more aggressive in the future
Mine sound louder at idle than stock. The x-pipe did quiet them down some...now I guess I have the "exotic sound" some speak of, but they sound great at WOT, and my pals will attest to that too

At idle and cruise, I find the Tourings not much loader than the stock exhaust; there is a deeper tone to the sound however. This is so even with the Kooks. At WOT there is a lot of sound especially with the Kooks, more so than with the FLPs.
