Default Grumpy Tilt Wheel Problem

I ran to the store this morning, and when returning to my my 03 Coupe for the return ride, I found that the tilt wheel would not release from the upmost position. I tried everything, but the tilt wheel simply stopped working leaving the steering wheel in an awkward position; "full up" making reading of the DIC interesting not to mention making turns much more interesting as well.

Anyone seen this problem?

Thanks,

Ron

No, I haven't and I hope I don't. I also have an 03 Coupe, MN6 and have concerns about the column lock problem, and now this...geeez

I have a five year old Acura TL and there has never been any problem with anything. GM are you listening? Yeh, like they care.

I remember one other post on this a long time ago. The driver was a little lady and she tried everything to get it unstuck. Finally her burly boyfriend/husband? grabbed it and tugged and it came loose. Might want to try a bit more muscle (at your own risk, of course... )

Thanks Joe and Grumpy. Sure enough, I gave the wheel a strong pull once or twice and it became "unlocked" in the upright position.

Good input, thanks guys

I had this problem on my 04 Z06 when it was a couple of months old. The mechanic found that a piece of plasic shaving from another part got caught in the tilt mechanism. It has been a couple of months since then and I have never had another problem. :flag

I mean with the tug thing...
...If you will pull the release and as you do give it a firm hard hit on the lower portion of the steering wheel it will probably pop free...
not seen it on the corvette but similar issue found on GM steering columns...
