Default Help! need advise!

OK, this is not a flame in any sense. Just need help. I am considering buying a C5 due to the great prices i am hearing out there!!!
few questions.........
What is considered a good deal currently? I was quoted 37,000 for 04' coupe with 1SB and A4 tranny.
What options are a must and anything I should be looking out for?
Last thing which is in the back of my mind and this is NOT a flame! The sterotype of owning a vette. I am 31, single, professional....But I always hear 2 sides of owning a vette.....first an old man trying to regain his youth or two a young player punk. Hummm, what to do!!!!!!

Thanks for advise in advance

Here is a real sterotype for you, a person who enjoys driving Americas only sports car. Now is that not a demeaning profile, since I have been driving Vettes since I was a youngster and am now 60, which one or both or your sterotypes do I fit in or is mine better.
Since you seem to be automatic hunting, I have no reccomendations to offer, have fun.

Is this price for a "new" or "used" 04' Coupe? What other options does it have? If it is new & loaded with options, that doesn't sound like a bad price to me. We got a great deal on our 04' AE Coupe from Monica Dean @ Maxie Price!
Good Luck!

I've owned Corvettes since I was seventeen...that was thirty years ago. I couldn't care less what people think.

If you're worried about what others think of you in a Corvette than buy a minivan or some other plebe vehicle.

When I first started looking for a C5 I wanted an automatic. I drove both, an auto and a six speed. The 6 - speed was so much fun that I bought it instead of the auto. Havn't regretted it since. Do yourself a favor, drive both.

Disclaimer: The comment above is in no way shape or form a cut or a dig against anyone driving automatics.
Just personal preference

I'm 56 and certainly heard the "mid-life crisis" and "compensating" comments when I bought my first Corvette a little over a year ago. But after driving the car one time - I could care less about what others think. This is pure and simple sports car driving at its best.

If you are A4 shopping, try to get at least the 3.15 rear end and Z51 suspension package. Much more fun that way.

I beleive that if you are concerned about what others think, defenitelly you are not a vette enthusiast in heart and probably do better in another vehicle. Most likelly you will end up selling it afterwards...

I'm 33, and if this is compensating, or a crisis, I'd like the weather to stay sunny and clear so I can compensate every day!

What color are you getting?

Well, as they say, there is a kernal of truth in every stereotype! And it is amazing! I am about to be 53 and since I got my '99 coupe almost five years ago, I have noticed a definite increase in my energy level, I sometimes stay up till almost 9:00 PM, and I sneeringly laugh at Viagra adds!

I am 59 years old and have a 2000 flame painted vert and a 2002 lowered, dubed, etc. Caddy Escalade. Which stereotypical class would that put me in? I’m so confused; maybe I should just check myself in for some major therapy.
If you like the Vette buy it, do you really care what people think and/or say???? Life is short, live it every day!!!!

I am 32, got my first vette last year(dreamed of that day since I can't remember)...I heard the same stereo type but I didn't think twice about it. The car is absolutley swwweeeeettt. They could say all morons drive vette's for all I care and you would still find me in one.
good luck with your decision.

Does not sound like a bad deal if an auto is what you want and the color is good to you. Make sure you test drive a stick just to be sure. If you opt for the A4 I would try to get the 3.15 performance rear end, the 1SB package (Should have the HUD, memory seats, dual climate control) and for that price it should also have the chromed wheels. Depending on taste you may want the magnetic suspension too, but that can raise costs. The C5 is now officially dead, so finding the options you want on a new car will get tougher as time goes on...

By the way, I am a 28 year old professional who just loves the car for what it is....a great sports car and one of the best perfomance bargains in the world. There is almost no other vehicle out there that will put up numbers like a Vette, still get great gas mileage, and come in at less than $50k. Do not worry about the stereotypes, or get a Vette and help to change them

I guess I'm compensating for a lot of things and am constantly in a mid-life crisis. Who cares?
