Be advised that all escort radar detectors overheat if left in the window turned on. 
PER CINN MICROWAVE A.K.A=ESCORT.I just bought there new x50 blue and it shut down when left on for 30 min and does not return unless they cool down.So i put it in my jeep and returned to my v1(metal case).

Ive had mine in two different vehicles, in the Texas heat, and no problems.

Thanks for the warning. Maybe best to take them off the mount if the car is going to be left sitting for a while.

8500 X50 Blue
I just took my first road trip with my new 8500 X50 blue and on the first day out, it went to "Service Required". I bought it off the internet from an electronic shop and when I called Escort, they said they would not warrant it. Luckily when I called the internet vendor they said they would replace the unit at no cost including shipping. Escort did say they would repair it for $49.95.
