Default Installed my first mod this weekend!

Well it was a busy Sunday afternoon at Casa de BigMan. I installed the Blackwing package from WCC that includes the high flow air bridge and throttle body coupler. I was more than a little nervous working on the Coupe, I hadn't worked under the hood of a car since my old '73 Fury.

I haven't had a chance to really get out and romp on it, looking forward to doing that soon. Normal driving seems to give me a little quicker throttle response though.

The install went very well, the only issue I had that slowed me down was the coupler hose between the Blackwing and the MAF sensor was extremely snug on the Blackwing side, I had to heat it up with a blow dryer and work it for about 45 minutes to seat it fully. Other than that everything went well.

One question I have: there is about 3/4" clearance now between the top of the radiator shroud and the air bridge, which was not the case with the stock bridge (it sat flush on the shroud, and was attached with grommets). It doesn't appear to be hitting the hoodliner though. Anyone else have a similar situation, or think it will be a problem?

Anyway, it took 4 months but mod fever is in swing. Already planning on a Corsa cat back and X pipe hopefully in September. I already got some great jackstands on sale at Sears. My wife is but she is getting new floors this summer so I call it a draw....

Nice job, air bridge looks great. I used my stock airbridge with my blackwing so I cannot comment on the gap or clearence but I have seen one '02 Z06, where the aftermarket airbidge left an imprint on the hoodliner. This one had a raised emblem on the airbidge though.

I have the Blackwing with the stock air bridge on my 01 coupe, and it sits about 3/4' above the shroud also. It has made a small imprint on the hood liner, but no big deal.

Enjoy.

Default Blackwing install

This was the first mod I made on my o4 vert. I used the stock bridge and it does leave a little gap where the stock filter sat flat in the grommets. I just removed the grommets and it sits very close to stock. You will not have any problems and it looks cool. Let the mods begin.

Cool, I found it to be quite a noticable difference in feel. Did you have to cut the coupler at all? I had to take quite a bit off the one at the MAF to get it to clear. It still had given an imprint on the hoodliner, but not noticable from the exterior.

I am going to call WCC this week to see if they recommend trimming the coupler between the MAF and the Blackwing, looks like I could greatly reduce the gap between the shroud and the air bridge if I were to remove half an inch or so from the coupler. I'll check under the hood later today to see if it is compressing the hood liner, last night it didn't look like it was but after 24 hours I should get a good look at it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words

The instructions I got from them with it recommended cutting it...I think 3/4" off...to make it fit.

Right, but with the "kit" that included the new CF air bridge the instruction sheet said don't cut. Still looks like half an inch to an inch would make a difference though.
