Default Question re steering adjustment/modification

This is something that is purely 100% subjective. But, to me, the steering on the Z is just too "loose." To me, steering the Z is more like steering a Cadillac than a high performance sports car. I'm looking for a more "tighter" feel that is common in a lot of European sports cars. Is there any way to adjust or modify the steering column to get that effect? Thanks.

A buddy of mine who owns a 911 says that the steering column on a Porsche can be easily adjusted to tighten the wheel up. But, I just got off the phone with a CF supporting vendor in my area who told me that there is nothing that can be done about this on a Z06. Sounds a bit strange. Does anyone have any other thoughts/suggestions? Many thanks.

This doesn't answer your question but I think the steering is plenty tight on the Z06. I also drive a maxima and a trailblazer and both of those seem really really really loose compared to the Z06.

The Z has a Magnasteer system, it's a variable rate system. Basically it uses magnents to increase steering resistance as speeds and throttle increase. Take the car out and drive her hard in some turns and you feel it tighten up nicely. Now when your lumping around a parking lot finding a space it'll feel like a Caddy, and it's supposed to.

The alignment has a lot to do with the "feel" you are talking about. More neg camber, and other adjustments I'm not qualified to suggest can help. More neg camber will wear out the inside of the tires faster if you don't race a lot.

You'll find this story funny. I also wanted steering similar to a Porsche; Porsche's don't have a dead on-center like American cars do. You constantly have to steer them, you can't relax. I've told the story before about how I and Lemans360 with our Z06s meet the German GT-3 club at the Nurburgring one fine day. I let the president drive my Z06, he loved it so much that he allowed us, with not only no Porsche, much less a GT-3 join the club because our cars were worthy.

What did he love most about the Z06, the light effortless steering, and the positive on-center so you could relax a little in a straight line, I just laughed. The grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side.

Caster controls the "on-center" steering attitude. More caster for more on-center.
