Default Halltech TRAP question (#2)

I noticed the black flap where you take the 5 bolts out (of the bumper) can hang open like a mouth to allow much more "rammed" air to go to the filter. Does anyone run it this way? Or have you put the 5 bolts back in the bumper and hidden the filter behind the bumper?

It seems allowing some air to go in there would really help out.?.?

Interesting notion, but I'd be concerned that leaving the shroud "unbuttoned" might lead to peripheral problems. BTW, I didn't put the center screw back in as it seemed the point might contact/pierce the filter. Let us know your experience if you give it a shot though!

It just seems like it would "cram" the air in better. If it sits in the bumper, it may be a bit warmer, still air. Just a thought...

I would button it all back up to maintain the proper airflow under the car and through the radiator.

MHO.

I doubt the power gained from the cooler air would offset the loss of power due to increased drag.
