Default Pros & Cons on a Bra

Any thoughts or exprerience on a bra, I'm thinking of getting one and I don't like the cleartastic look. Will it damage paint mor than the occasional stone chip? Ragtop

I got one from GM and ran with it for a week. Had no problems. I was getting some dirt build up where the straps wrap back into the wheel well that could have scratched if it wiggled around so you want to check it often.

I will probabily use it off and on for long highway drives.

I only use mine on the track. I tried it on some long trips but it does get dirty just in front of the wheel wells and when you are on a trip it is hard to find a place to store it if you decide it should not be on the car.

It's not the bra that harms the paint, it's any dirt, dust or sand that gets under the bra that hurts the paint. I wouldn't use one on a daily basis but, for long trips it's probably a good idea.

i think the car draws waaay too much attention to mar its looks by putting something as ugly as a bra on it. kind of like seeing a lady in a beautiful gown wearing black high-top tennis shoes...

i love the car the way it is, and if that means a nick or two on the nose, i can deal with that...

I left yesterday morning on a 200 mile business trip and didn't have time to put on my Speed Lingerie Bra. It is awesome. Upon my return back home, I broke out the buckets and Bug/Tar remover to get all the nasty critters off the nose of the car. I won't leave on a trip without it again.

On my 01 Vert, I parked in a hospital parking lot for a business call and while I was talking with a collegue of mine, standing right behind the car, a dumbA^S in a pickup truck parked his truck on TOP of the nose of the car. This idiot didn't even realize it. We had to chase him down. The bra kept the front end from being damaged- I am absolutely POSITIVE.

Your call.

I have one of the carbon fiber look bras and mirror protectors from Mid America and it looks and works great. If I am tooling around town I leave it off but anything over 100 miles gets the protection. No stone chips, great carbon fiber look, very little sand or dirt behind the bra and easy to store. The Z is Torch Red and the bra is black bu the contrast looks pretty good in my opinion.

I got a silver Speed Lingerie nose cover to match the color of the car. Fits great. Looks pretty good especially when you consider the protection its providing. It doesn't flap or move around. I leave it on most of the time as around here I'm always hitting the freeway and there's so many damn dirt trucks that its impossible not to pick up a few dings on each trip. Never been any damage to the paint although I suppose you could make an argument for fading if you leave it on all the time. Its pricy but IMHO the best around.

They're useful, and you don't have to leave it on all the time.

They, and the area under them, need to be kept clean and dry. If they are excessively loose or excessively tight, they can leave minor marks on the clearcoat, but that can typically be removed with swirl remover. Some people put racers tape or saran wrap underneath areas where that can happen like the clasps and center of the hood.

bra's are so 80's looking. If :ack you want your car to remind people of an 88 Iroc, go for it. Clear tastic or the speed lingerie is a much better choice.

PROS: None

CONS: Butt ugly (are you saving your car for the next guy?)

Good source of sand, for sandpapering your car's finish.

CONCLUSION: Avoid

I use one for highway trips only. I put in on right before I leave then take it off right after I get back home. It works great for protectiing from rocks and bugs. But, I would not leave one on the car for extended periods of time. And make sure the car is washed before installing it so no dirt particles get trapped under it.
If used correctly a bra will not mess up your paint. Buy a good quality bra. Use it only when needed and install it on a clean car and your paint will be fine. I too woud NOT recc. one if you plan to leave it on the car. They are great for protection and that is all I would recc. using it for.
Mine has even been rained on and it caused no ill to my paint.

Bras on cars are just like bras on women - they hide the true beauty of her lines!

Take a look at the 3m film, hardly visible, doesn't mark up the car and has superior protection.
