Default Dentist Drill Sound Question...

I've noticed from time to time, mostly while parking, the car makes a high pitch drill sound. Sounds very similar to a dentist's drill. It would appear to happen more if the car is hot, and never for more than 10 seconds at a time.

Is this a normal cooling sound of the LS1, and should I be concerned?

Happens regardless if I've had the AC running or not. Will also happen from a cold start. (More often if the car's already hot from sitting in the sun).

I don't know enough about the LS1 to know for sure what the air pump sounds like.

Sounds like the cooling fan kicking in. Its not suppose to have a high pitched sound though, maybe its starting to go. Might want to have it checked out.

That's the AIR pump running. It runs on cold start up and occassionally other times, even after warm up.

I feel qualified to answer this question (Macinamouth).

It is the little rogue leprechaun dentist that is causing your afliction.
